According to the OED...

DEYDE - Form of Dead, Died.

Go Figure, probably some form of those words.....

Hi Sypher...

I was wondering if you could answer my question of yesterday regarding how you're scoring the game. It was my understanding that a word is doubled if it is begun with the last letter of the preceding word. In val's case, why was her score doubled if she didn't begin her word with the last letter of mine? Shouldn't her total have been 15 instead of 30? Believe me, I'm not trying to take anything away from val, I'm just really a bit confused.

Thanks.

Baglady...you are sooo correct in how the scoring is done...
Thanks for keeping me on my toes...When I do the scores it is very early in the morning for me and I still have to have my wake-up coffee !!

I will check back and amend if needed !!

Thanks again !!

I would like to challenge taxy as a word...I may be digging my own grave but hey I missed a day any way so why not try it...

I checked my oxford dictionary of current english(closest to the oed that I could find over the weekend) and its not in there...not in the scrabble site and dictionary.com litst it as a suffix...an ending to another word...not a word itself...

if its a word and stands alone as a suffix we will need to clarify the rules on what a word is and isn't...if I could have used a contraction last night my word would have been great...

is that ok for a first challenge...eh don't worry about hurting my feelings with a defense..give me all you got...

ok well I am guessing that I lost...judging from the score...aren't we supposed to be told hey you messed up its in the oed so you lose and he wins or something...not just left hanging figuring a suffix is a suffix...if there is a proper defintion, I would like to know it just to know it...yep I am whining...just feels like noone has looked at this thread or anything...am I in the wrong game????

Actually Eyeball...I never saw your challenge until now...
So I will have to check the word 'Taxy' out, but I can't do that until Monday morning. So at the moment the scores stand...if they do change you will see the diff.

As far as challenges go...no worries...it is a good challenge !!

Taxy according to the OED....is a variation on the spelling of TAXI. The word is valid but it has highlighted a grey area in this game.
Again, Well Done Sage on a great week !!

Sypher Is rule #11 where you have to state whether the word is a Noun, Verb or Adjective count against you if you forget to do that? I didn't do that as I hadn't noticed that in your's or Sagebrushe's entries!Just asking! Thanks, PF

Rule #11 is optional if you think your entry is going to be challenged.....

Baglady's entry is a repeat of Chelseabelle's "reform" which I belive maks it invalid.

I challenge BagLady's entry of "REFORM". It is a duplicate of my entry that I posted earlier today.

I don't think that's fair, ScrambleMaster. Pinhead and I did post in a dead heat. We both picked up on BagLady's entry and we both deserve FULL POINTS EACH. What's this nonsense about splitting it? We didn't challenge half an entry --we both challenged correctly at the exact same time. To be fair you don't halve the baby and deprive us of what we rightfully deserve. We each deserve our full points. This is an unusual case because our challenge posts coincided. Giving us each only half the points penalizes each of us. That is really not fair. We each posted independently.

I must admit it is very rare to get the same post posted at the same time....Oh well, both get full points for the challenge !!
