What's similar about both gtho4 and LeoDaVinci? Sure, they're both moderators of the 'Tipping Competitions' forum, however, there's something else... both of them won the US Open tennis tipping competition last year. What's the same between them and you? Well, you're all going to be trying to win this year's competition, which happens in a week! Flushing Meadows, New York will host the final Grand Slam tournament of the year. Rafael Nadal and Kim Clijsters won last year, but the field is wide-open this year for your tips to predict. Here's the point breakdown: 5 pts x 1 : picking the winner. 3 pts x 2 : picking a semi-final winner (picking a finalist). 2 pts x 4 : picking a quarter-final winner (picking a semi-finalist). 1 pts x 8 : picking a quarter-finalist. + tips for seedings It all begins on August 29th. The second round starts at some point tomorrow (Wednesday), depending how quickly the first round finishes up. It could be as early as tomorrow morning.

- Serena Williams, who was ranked 28th, helped more than half of us to reach the century mark.
- The winner of the women's comp is gtho4 with a mammoth 151 points. Good thing he got so many points because his tiebreaker was waaaaay off.
- N-Bomb takes second with Sypher holding up the podium in third.
- Usually, srini701's 106 points or illiniman14's 108 points would have been more than enough for a win, but, this time it gets them fifth and fourth places respectively.
- Tiebreakers were needed to separate srini701 and Howie72, and Sypher and illiniman14. Luckily for BxBarracuda and N-Bomb, who didn't pick one, they didn't need it.
- Poor ozzz2002 takes the Spoon here with only three correct tips, and none of those for big points. He should be happy an Ozzie won this.
- Congratulations to unseeded Angelique Kerber who reached the semifinals untipped, and to Flavia Pennetta who reached the quarters under our radar.
- triviapaul would have placed seventh.
- That concludes the ladies' Grand Slam events for the year. See you all when it starts up again at the Australian Open in 2012.

- Novak Djokovic continues his complete dominance of 2011 by knocking off Rafael Nadal in the Finals again.
- Howie72 wins the men's competition with 88 points, but that's 13/15, while our silver medalist N-Bomb had 76, and in third place we have BxBarracuda with 71 points, and who was the sole tipper to have John Isner in the quarters.
- Places four, five, and six were decided on tiebreakers. So was the wooden spoon.
- Rossian takes the Spoon here with only eight correct tips, the obvious ones so no big points there.
- BxBarracuda did not pick a tiebreak for the number of games the losing finalist would win... good thing he didn't need it!
- Janko Tipsarevic was the only tennis player to make it into the quarterfinals without us tipping him.
