I'm glad you started this thread! I have been wondering the same thing too.
The explanation for my screen name is not that spectacular: Lo is short for my real name, all my friends call me this, and 78 is my year of birth.

mm, let me think, where does the name come from... Ah yes, I remember, it is my name with the first letter of the familyname behind it. 10 years ago I was member of a student-organisation and we where with several "Wim"'s, so I became Wim with the double m. Kept it like that since then, kinda like it this way. You might find me in a more divine mood in the multiplayer area (when it works, that is)(when will it be reopened btw?) with the name HisWimmNess...

When my last employers set up an intranet, some local webmasters included chatrooms on their sites (the chatrooms were soon closed down by the board).
I used to look into our chatroom now and again and used various names. One day someone posted a message "I wonder how many people are tabbing to and fro between this chatroom and their work". Tabbing to and fro was just what I was doing, my name's Tom and I've always felt a certain affinity with cats. So I became Tabby Tom.

"tabbying"--I like that word. Tom, we use it here to mean "to prowl around or get to get into mischief". Linda C--that's just me. The 007 is simply because my husband is crazy about the old Sean Connery and Roger Moore James Bond movies. Actually, I am really an International Woman of Mystery on Her Majesty's Sercret Service. This Applalachian mountain woman stuff is a clever disguise because I can't hardly reveal my real identity in the Forums, can I??????? ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)

just love my screen name, my own. It is easy to remember most times ![[Eek!]](images/icons/shocked.gif) but me and my husband have a shared name, which I use sometimes. rogapaky weird a! roger, gail, patrick, kyle. First two letters of his, mine and the kids names and there is rogapaky. Some times I use garopaky, figure I should come first sometimes, it is only fair right? ![[Razz]](images/icons/tongue.gif)

I was Fosse4 -
Fosse Way, a major Roman Road in the Uk had it's central point in Leicester. The 4 makes it a pun on the word Phosphor - burns brightly but not for very long.

I just don't have a good imagination or memory - My name is Sue and I once used that on another website, they tacked 943 on the end to save confusion (I still don't think they had 942 other Sues but never mind). It is too confusing to have different names all over the place so I am Sue943 here too..... you may call me Sue (or something ruder in private if you feel so inclined).

I like the words "shadow", "darkness" and other words of that kind. That's why the shadow in my screen name. The "aballin" is more complicated.
First of all, NO, it is NOT "a ball in", ok? It is "aballin", that's a word that actually exists. An aballin is an aquatic creature that lives in lakes, oceans, rivers, etc. Note that it doesn't actually exists, it is a mythologic creature, as seen in role-playing-games like "Dungeons & Dragons". I like the aballins because I like water and nature. They aren't elves though...

Mine is pretty straightforward. Magpie is my husband's nickname for me. When I joined Quizzyland, it seemed that the screen name 'magpie' was already in use by another member(although I have never seen him or her). So I added the '8', which is my favourite number. At first I was pleased that my husband chose the name 'Magpie' as a term of endearment. He told me it was because magpies were intelligent and beautiful creatures, and had an unusual love of shiny objects. Later I discovered some less flattering traits associated with these birds, such as their raucous cry, and their habit of non-stop chattering. I think these also fit! ![[Razz]](images/icons/tongue.gif)

As many of you know, my real name is Heather, but as it is already taken here by someone else, and I'm a lot older than most of the others, I chose the French word for the plant. As this is not a name for them, don't assume there are girls walking around with Bruyère as a name! I tried to get it with one or two service providers and it was always taken but I'm not sure by whom! Anyway, I almost always have a flower name for a pseudonym as I've always had a nature name, as did three out four of us children and now my daughter Sylvie of the forest.
I once changed my name here to Heather on a Hill and everyone screamed at me to change it back! I also tried Ladyof the Heath because I was a little jealous at the royalty around here, but now I'm back.

I've already explained my name in the Welcome section. In a nutshell, the Tikki part is short for my Grandmother's maiden name and I added the -mouse part after getting teased about having a torch named after me and the like. ![[Big Grin]](images/icons/laugh.gif) Heather got the pronunciation right; its the same as in Rikki Tikki Tavi, Rudyerd Kipling's book. Where do I send your cigar, Heather? ![[Razz]](images/icons/tongue.gif)

Hopefully they'll come back on soon, Wimm and Buffy! Who remembers 'webwords'? I really miss that one!
Copago is the name of the sheep station where we live, like Sue, I use it in most places that I go.

Hello everyone, Interesting thread here, about user names. I took my user name from my Rottweiler his name was Junior. He is registered with the AKC as: Junior The Jaws. I recently had to have my best friend put to sleep back on February 26, 2002, he now walks on the other side of Rainbow's Bridge. That is how I got my user name. ![[Wink]](images/icons/wink.gif)

AmberG, Your cat has a lovely name ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif) My real first name is Amber, I took the name IndieQueen from a song by Marvelous 3. I fell in love with the song, so I use that name everywhere. I get Indie Girl all of the time and Indie Goddess a few times. One time, a guy emailed me to ask me if I was Parker Posey, supposedly, they call her the Indie Queen too.

The telly bit is because I was a TV/video recorder engineer. The wellies bit is a nickname. It went from Gumbrecht (the real name) to Gumboots to Wellie boots to Wellies.
(Although I use a screen name here I'm not worried about using my real name on the Web. It's displayed throughout our web pages anyway).

If anyone has read the "Sword of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind (great read by the way althogh the most recent book was somewhat dissapointing), the central character Richard Cypher is you guessed it, a war wizard. My fiance dubbed me that in her regular chatroom, she accuses me of summoning storms whenever she has to drive for any length of time.
