Apologies if this has been covered recently - I couldn't see any threads that seemed to be about it.

I've been making copies of some of my CDs lately, and am having trouble getting Windows Media Player to work properly. I'll rip the CD, get everything ready to burn, put the new CD in, and, 5 times out of 6, it comes popping back out, and I'm told to insert a blank CD. I know that the burner does work, because usually after a whole bunch of tries, I'll do exactly what I did three tries ago, and it will work fine.

I looked around online and found one program to install that the help page said would fix the problem, but it really looked dodgy - kept asking me to accept all kinds of weird add ons. Looking around on Windows website, I see the problem mentioned a couple of times, but following the links never gets me to anything helpful.

I suppose I could just remind myself of how to use iTunes to do this instead, but as I remember it's more complicated than WMP, so I'd rather stick with this, if it would just work!

I used to try to burn CDs using WMP but it worked so intermittently that I gave in and downloaded a free Open Source program called InfraRecorder which is very easy to use and has worked perfectly every time. There's even a 64bit version if you need one.

Honestly, I'd recommend finding something other than WMP. In my opinion it isn't a very well made utility. You can get free software that's easier to use and more reliable. I'd recommend either CDBurnerXP or Nero.

Personally, I rip using Exact Audio Copy (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) and burn all my discs, either photos, music or videos using Nero.

Yeah, I finally gave up on the silly thing, and burned them through iTunes, which wasn't as complicated as I remembered (last time I used it I was told to do a lot of stuff that I now see was unnecessary). I think I'll try one of those other systems - I'm burning a lot right now and don't need the aggravation. Thanks for the suggestions.
