Ok, seeing as I know pretty much diddly about the game of golf, Iīm working off the assumption that when a venue has 36 holes it means it has two 18-hole courses...when itīs got 27 that would be an 18-holer and a 9-holer. So far, am I right? But can someone please explain the difference between an 18 & 19 -hole course? Why the extra hole? Whatīs it good for? LOL Anyway, keeping in mind all these differences, trying to find the exact city/town the venue is in, and making sure I donīt use any invalid words and still get enough points...please no one laugh at me too hard if I post something wacky or lose my sanity by the end of the week! Pssssst, Mama...got anything yummy for me?

Fort, The 19th hole is just another name for the clubhouse, bar, pub, tavern, restaurant etc. It's where you go to drown your sorrows after trying to play this infernal game!

And speaking of the 19th hole.....me thinks Sypher's been spending just a little TOO much time at it.....if he's seeing windmills on the golf course, he's definitely visiting the 'refreshment' stand at a 'Miniature Golf' venue! lol BL ------------------ Anyone who likes golf on television would enjoy watching the grass grow on the greens! ....Andy Rooney

Oh thank you, thank you dear PartsDude...that extra "hole" was really confusing me, but I think I like the sounds of it a whole lot better now! LOL Anything with food & beverages gets my vote.

FOOD? FOOD? Did someone say FOOD? Where is it? What's to eat? It's lunch time here and I'm in serious need of caloric replentishing. Mama would you please throw an enormous picnic hamper into that golf cart of yours--and maybe a small BBQ grill as well? I can't wait until I get to that 19th hole. And I could use a Port-A-Potty as well. Sypher, I found one of your exploding golf balls for you...

You betcha, Fortunata!!! We have Bahama Mamas, so we also have fruit (it's best when it's been soaking up the rum, but whatever you like!!) And then we have Bloody Marys, because I always have bloody marys (no celery for JoJo!) Then rumaki and spinach-artichoke dip. Chelse, got my hibachi in my bag - we'll throw a prawn on the barbie!!! (And as for the port-a-potty, just take a left at that elm up ahead on the fairway! I promise no one's looking!!!) Anything else anybody wants, just let me know and I'll send my caddy out!! I'm not sure I should be driving on the public streets!!! Oh, and in answer to the question: Typically, any course that has 27 holes has an 18 and a 9 hole course. Usually, if they have 18, it's one course, although a few might advertise them as two executive coruses (translation: shorter courses, so you can squeeze in a game on a two martini lunch!) You know how Will Rogers defined golf: A good walk spoiled!!! [This message has been edited by Mamaja (edited 02-13-2001).]

First of all I would like to apologise to everyone for last night's incident with Tiger Woods and the automatic ball dispenser. I understand his swing may be permanently affected. Secondly I would like to ask why Sypher got 10 points for his challenge on Partsdude, while I got zilch for my challenge on Sypher! There is more ducking and diving going on here than in Trotter's Independent Trading Company!!

The reason you got nothing for your challenge on me was because it wasn't really a challenge....I hadn't broken any rules as 'Links' was not on the list. All that happened was that I didn't get the 5 points for it and the word was added. In the case of me challenging Partsdude's entry, their entry was totally invalid due to the fact the name was wrong and it was only a 9 hole golf course. The rules state that it must be an 18 hole golf course. Partsdude PM'd the site to me to verify their defence of the name, which in turn I Pm'd back the site that showed the name was different and it had only 9 holes. The phone number for this club was exactly the same on both web-sites. Thus you will hopefully hear no complaints from Partsdude, zero points for Partsdude and 10 points for me for the challenge. Hope this helps !!

Hi everyone, First of all....I will be late in posting the scores tomorrow as I will not be able to access a pc in the morning. Second.....I challenge Chelsea's entry as this is not the name of Venue. In fact, it is not even a name of the course. The actual club name in Birmingham, Alabama is.... Oxmoor Valley Golf Course This venue has three 18-hole courses....these are :- Valley Course - Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Short Course - Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. & Ridge Course - Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Like I said....I challenge CB's entry for today !!

This venues are - Grand National in Auburn/Opelika, Magnolia Grove in Mobile Highland Oaks in Dothan, and Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham ------------------ ...and I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues !!

Sypher--I did give you verification on my entry. The name on my Web site is exactly as I posted it. The venue (which includes 3 courses) has a single name (my entry) and is located in Birmingham, Alabama. Since when do we disregard verification from a Web site? My entry may be the complete (or official) name of the Oxmoor Country Club--which includes 3 18 hole golf courses. [This message has been edited by chelseabelle (edited 02-14-2001).]

Chelseabelle, you have given me only one site stating that name, but when you dig a little deeper, you can find that it is not the name. Only half your entry is the real name. I can't give you full points, but I can give you points for what does count due to you backing it up with a web-site that shows it like that. (not happy about doing that )
