Right Partsdude - the gloves are off now! If you're challenging Mama, then I'm definitely going to challenge you. You have galvanized me into action! I had a feeling things might start getting messy today!

Top of the morning everyone!!! I was at the other side of the building and I kept hearing hearing these strange sounds. I thought we were having an earthquake until I realized that I forgot to bring the doughnuts in this morning and it was all your stomach's growling! But do not fear the doughnuts are here!!! Here you go!!! Two thick strawberry jam doughnuts with sticky sugar frosting for Somali. Doughnuts and mocha for Mamaja, and doughnuts and hot chocolate for Fortunata. Since I didn't know what everyone else wanted, I brought a wide assortment of pastries and bagels. Looks like I have run to hardware store now in order to catch up with Somali, Baglady, and PartsDude. Don't forget to meet back here this afternoon so that we can take the FunTrivia limo over to Mamaja's for cocktails.

Oooooooh...Bagels, my favorite!...Thanks JoJo! (Oh, lots of cream cheese, too!) I don't want to miss the limo this afternoon, so I think after my snack I'll go take a nap...please wake me in time for happy hour...thanks! BL ------------------ Failure Is Not An Option. hmmmm, interesting point, somali, but in this particular case the rules specifically state "Anything you can find in a hardware store", and PARTSDUDE's entry certainly qualifies. Don't you just love a really juicy Snake Gray Area to quibble over? lol BL ------------------ It takes half your life before you discover life is a do-it-yourself project. ....Napoleon Hill

Somali, there are many things in a hardware store that are made out of galvanized steel. Your gutters would be found in the home improvement section, my fittings would be found in the plumbing section.

Thanks for the yummies, JJ! I´ll take two Bavarian Cream doughnuts and hot chocolate. I think Somali´s confused because the rules state that words can´t be repeated, and galvanized has been used twice. What the rules mean is that an entry can´t be repeated...like if galvanized gutters had been used twice...but the word galvanized can be used more than once as an adjective for other items (and still have different entries). Make sense?

I seem destined to be permanently confused by this game! In Snake Rules (Final Edition), rule 6 clearly states: "No word must be repeated otherwise it becomes Invalid and scores no points." No word right, not no entry. Interestingly the rules do not make any mention of an entry having to be spelled correctly!! And you think I'm confused! I was going to keep off the alcohol this week, but JoJo can I please have some whisky to dunk my doughnuts in?!? Sage or Sypher - if you're lurking out there, I need some clarification (and/or medication!)

OK, as far as words being used twice, I agree with you, but Sypher has allowed it and it's his game. I was going to implement the rule that you could use the same word twice, but points for that word wouldn't count. However, it is too late in the week to implement that rule now. As for the misspelled words, as long as it's only one letter and you can tell what the entry is, they lose the point/s for that letter only. Spelling in Snake is not as important as it is in Scramble. No points will be awarded or deducted (except for the missing letter) for the challanges today.

LOL Somali! You have every reason to be confused. I think that´s one of the reasons this game is called "Snake"...because it sheds its skin from week to week and the rules always seem to mutate. When you´re new it can be extremely confusing, but once you get the hang of it and you´ve been at it for a while you get a feel for what is and what isn´t. Have a drink on me!

Thank you, oh wise Sage. I know that we have cut some slack in the past for spelling errors, but it seems to have depended on the mood of the moment - I was not very willing to do so on Joe Namath a few weeks ago!!!! Now, somebody go wake BagLady up - I've got the ice in the cooler, and the umbrellas ready to go. Party mix at one end of the room, queso dip at the other, and the stuffed mushrooms and rumaki in the middle!!!! ------------------ Sieze the moment. somali!!!!! You want to dunk your doughnuts in whisky?!? EWWWWWWW! I shouldn't make fun of you though because I like to dip frency fries in my chocolate shake! Looks like our BrideLady is almost ready to go! Hurry up chicky baby, you look beautiful, now grab your purse and let's all hit the road to Mamaja's party before she sends a search party looking for us. Help me keep an eye on Fortunata. The last time I went to a party with her, she had a bit too much to drink and it took almost an hour to find her. We were all histerical, laughing when we found her in the broom closet saying sweet nothings to a mop and she was dancing with it as well! LOL! Come on Pinhead, we can't have a party without PinTheTailOnTheDonkey! There's plenty of room in the stretch so bring Browzer along. Sagey and Partsdude, get ready to dance with all us girls. Your poor tootsies are going to be sore in the morning. [This message has been edited by JoJo2 (edited 02-21-2001).]

Oh, I see how it is! It never ceases to amaze me, JoJo, that whenever you tell stories of our past parties you always throw the broom-closet incident in my face. Yes, I was quite embarrassed to find out I´d been making passes at a mop all night. Everyone laughed at me. What you fail to mention, however, is your disgraceful display on the chandelier! Or have we soon forgotten? Hehehehe...you can´t deny it...we all witnessed that (and more). Next time, sweetie, remember to wear full underwear beneath your skirt! LOL Now, can someone please explain to me this so-called Rumaki in detail? I can´t for the life of me make out what it is from that pic.

Fort...This traditional hot appetizer is always a crowd pleaser. Chicken livers and water chestnuts are marinated in a simple, savory sauce, then wrapped with bacon and broiled. YUM! BL [This message has been edited by BagLady (edited 02-21-2001).]

Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!! PinPrecious is coming to the party with us!! Of course there will enough food and drinks for you dear, Mamaja always spoils us when we have happy hour at her house. I can't believe that you like dipping your fries in your chocolate milkshake also! Let's try to get everyone at the party to try it. It has to taste better than somali's doughnuts in whisky! LOL!

Something about somali's donuts dunked in whiskey actually intrigues me, if somali's location is really Scotland. There's a Scottish dish, Haggis, that's a traditional New Year's delight (a sheep's stomach filled with a tasty pudding made from oatmeal and sheep innards, drenched in Scotch whiskey). I can honestly say that it's not really any stretch of the imagination to include donuts into the mix! lol BL

JoJo - whisky is a staple ingredient in Scottish cuisine. It's best to acquire a taste for it early on. Of course I'm in Scotland - where on earth do you think I am? However I am not Scottish but English (which makes me a White Settler, but I've lived here for nine years and am sort of naturalised by now). BagLady - I am going to have to correct you on the haggis description. That nonsense about sheeps' stomachs is just a myth put about to entertain the tourists. It's a little-known fact that the Haggis lives wild in the Cairngorms. It is a small aggressive relative of the wombat, adapted to life in the chilly highlands by having a dense hairy tartan-patterned coat. The legs on one side of its body are longer than the other - an evolutionary answer to its habit of running in circles round hills. The Haggis hunting season starts on October 31st and ends on January 31st. Hope this helps.

I'm going to have sore tootsies from dancing? You haven't seen me dance! Usually it's my partner who has the sore toes!! ------------------ When I was younger I hated going to weddings. It seemed that all of my aunts and the grandmotherly types used to come up to me, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next." They stopped that after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.
