Mamaja - Your entry for today is half valid as far as the rules stand at the present. Words like BROUGHAM, Supreme, Super Sport, etc. are sub classes. So, Torino would count for score, but Brougham wouldn't.

However, I am going to leave it up to all the Snake players.

Should sub classes be valid and counted for score?

Please tell me so I can score this game fairly!

some models of automobiles have just numbers as the model. You may spell these numbers out Highlighting the first two words only as the entry.

Example: If the model number was 225, then your entry would look like this; Two Twenty Five (225).

Also, some models may have a letter and number like Z50. This would be written out Z Fifty (Z50).

Does everybody understand this?

Sage....That's a hard one..."Brougham", as in Ford's 1970 Torino Brougham, (V8, Navy Blue, which I owned...what a honey!) isn't really a sub-class, but the actual model name. It's kind of a stretch to put in on a par with coupe, convertible, etc. (although I suppose technically, it is a body style). It must be Monday...that statement is as clear as mud!

Are you feeling better, I hope?

Sage, I don't mean to make things difficult, but I didn't consider "Brougham" in this name on a par with "coupe" or "convertible" - I found it as a model name in a list of Ford Models. I won't squawk too much, but I thought it through long and hard before entering it and rejected some things that specifically fell into the excluded catergories. I thought this was ok.

What - things getting messy already?!

My "Big Dictionary with nothing as exciting as pictures" defines brougham as a motor car with an open driver's seat, which puts me more in mind of those veteran or vintage cars than one of the 70s. However the word brougham was named after Lord Brougham (died 1868), so I guess the Torino model could have been named in his honour, in which case it isn't a sub-class. Hope this confuses things further!!

Thanks a lot, Somali!!! I don't know whether to buy you a drink or take you out back of the woodshed with a switch - whose side are you on???? ROFLMAO!!!!!
I did not interpret thesite I found as making Brougham a sub-class, but I don't know in whose honor they named this puppy.

JoJo - I don't know if this will count as a challenge or not - it will depend on Sage's definitions again. GT is used as an indication of a high-performance car (an abbreviation of the Italian "gran turismo").

Over to you, Sage!

I think we need gth04 in here to answer that last one.

As far as Brougham is concerned, it doesnīt sound like a sub-class to me at all as it isnīt as common as other ones like supreme, supreme sport, etc. And it was named after a person after all, which Iīm guessing the others arenīt. I donīt know much about makes/models/types/classes or what have you...itīs kind of a jumble to me...but this one seems pretty clear.

Ah yes, muddled mondays indeed. Is it too early for a drink?

Hi Fort. I think this is going to turn out to be one of those troublesome topics again - and it all seemed so straightforward at the start!

It is definitely not too early for a drink - the first round is on me!

Right, here goes with an explanation, I hope. My intentions were as if you were filling out a form and it asked for the make and model of your car. If you had a Ford Torino Brougham, where it said "Make of car" you would enter "Ford" and not "Ford Motor Company". Where it asks for "Model" you would enter "Torino" only because Brougham is the sub-class of the Torino meaning the elite, Deluxe or luxury model of the Torino. It usually boils down to meaning more expensive, LOL. I can name a few different makes and models that had a Brougham.

My ruling on sub-classes:

I will allow them. However, once they have been used, they can't be used again. Even though there are different makes and models with the same sub-class. So, Brougham and GT can not be used again for points.

Now for make of car. If I had a Mitsubishi "so and so", the make would be "Mitsubishi" and not "Mitsubishi Motors Corporation" I think I confused you people when I used "GMC" as an example. There is a "GMC" make of car out there, but not a "MMC" that I know of. So, Motor/s, Company, Industries, Corporation, etc. will not be counted in the future unless it is spelled out words of a make with just initials.

I hope I have explained this better now and everybody's happy. I need a drink!!!

All entries to this point will stand as valid.

Oh Fort - I'm going to have to challenge your entry!!

The sidecar is not an automobile, but a small seating-box thingummy attached to a motorbike.

Guess I'd better make that a double tequila, huh?!

Oh my - I'm in a picky mood this morning. Must be the effect of being snowed in again.

Val - I'm challenging your entry on the grounds that "misspelled words will be invalid".

Testarossa is the correct spelling (needs 3rd "s")

Sorry Somali, there are many web sites that spell it as she did. Also as many spelled as you did. Looks like it's accepted both ways.

Will comment on your other challange later. Got to rush off for work.

Sage - in that case, you might just as well get rid of your rule about spelling being critical. The web is full of sites with bad spelling and inaccurate information. I'd have thought that in the case of a challenge, the site to believe would be the manufacturer's official one, in this case http://www.ferrari.com

Val - this is nothing personal against you - I'll challenge anyone if I think I've got a good reason!

Ferrari Testarossa is definitely spelt Testarossa with 3 esses.

I am normally fairly good-tempered, but being snowed in again is making me stroppy! The Rules suck!!!!!

I challenge your challenge somali! (hehe)

Testarossa (with the triple S) is the Italian spelling of the word.
I was under the impression we were to use English words... Testarosa is the English spelling. (And apparently the more common, as 80 percent of the places on the web spell it the way I entered it...)

Hell's Bell's, Val - this is one of those non-rule situations again!

Which spelling of the name do you imagine is going to appear on the car itself? Testarossa!!

A quick search came up with 66 sites spelling it that way, as opposed to only 51 for your version. So that makes 51 sites that can't spell!

And another thing - the rules posted at the start of the game do not say only English names can be used. The topic is "Automobiles, past and present" and "from any country". So yah boo to you!! We all know by now that Snake Rules (Final Edition) is a load of c**p and is paid no attention to whatsoever!

Next week I shall not be using the last letter of the previous entry to start my word - but have decided to go for the totally random approach of picking whichever letter suits me best!

Can you tell all this snow-bound business is getting to me? The white-coated men in the little yellow van are supposed to be coming for me, but they can't get down the drive! My whisky supplies are running dangerously low! HELP!!!
