I hope I'm posting this to the right thread, but was wondering what most funtrivia members do for a living?
The reason I ask is that when I've logged on at different times of the day and night I often see the same people online and playing quizzes. The points some of these people manage to accumulate in just one day are also staggering.
I don't mean to sound cynical but are these people students or currently unemployed or is it more a question of more than one person playing on their account?

Some students, some unemployed (like me), some retired...and as GG said, playing at work and at home.

School Principal! I play when students are in class and I am not teaching, marking or ad-minning. At home too , of course, and because I live in Hong Kong, we have a different time slot. But there is always someone here. The site that never sleeps.

You certainly haven't spied on my production nor time of play. (that shifts through the day as the time goes by.) I am involved in making a mess of things.

I'm an Electronics Engineer, working for a family-owned company that imports and distributes calculators, cash register systems and other electronic shop & office equipment. When at work, I don't have internet access through a PC (even though it would sometimes help me do my job better) but I can log on to FT using my Blackberry. FT is my Home Page. It's not ideal for actually playing timed quizzes on but I can keep up with events on my team board & the forums.
Edited to add some text that somehow got lost.

I'm at work right now It's not always this quiet though. Sometimes I don't have time to think about getting online. I never truly know what to expect so I always bring my laptop in just in case it's quiet

I'm an accountant. I've never tried to access it, but I imagine that FunTrivia is probably blocked. I don't have a smartphone, either, so the only times I can access FT is in the morning while I drink my coffee, and after work. But I also don't score a large amount of points during a day. I play quizzes that interest me and some of the daily and hourly games (I LOVE Word Wizard!) but most of my time on the site is with my Editor Hat on--which is fun and I love it, but doesn't earn very many points.

I'm an information officer for a Government organisation. I spend my days talking to journalists, some of whom are so dumb you would not believe it. Sample question: "is it still called a kidnapping if an adult is the victim?"

I work for a sandwich shop, and currently don't go to school (I'll be back in that world next semester). Up until a month ago, I worked for a large medical company as well, processing records. I use my phone when away from home. There's a lot more pride in phoned in scores. I can hit 14 seconds in PoC regularly from my laptop, but breaking 30 seconds on a tiny little screen is way more difficult. Now that I'm in the Champs division, I can't do it anymore, my rating would plummet.

I am currently a medical clinic manager.
In the past I have been a high school science teacher, a medical receptionist/typist, and an adult education trainer in the medical field.
In my current position, I don't have access to the internet like I used to in my previous job. And even if I did, I'd be too busy to access FunTrivia at work!

I'm a translator, I graduated a few months ago and I'm currently looking for a job and having a bit of a hard time getting one... it's quite discouraging, but well I keep telling myself something's bound to come up eventually.

Since I lost my last job long ago the apparent difficulties in finding anything new (it took well over a year to find the previous one, unlike every other till then) I spent my time converting my counselling qualifications to psychotherapy, although the number of employed jobs in that have tens of applicants or more for every one here, as it's both not a recognised British profession and one where many are asked to work as volunteers despite having spent a few years studying to get there at least. So it means any work I do is usually from home (the places who promised to get me clients were unreliable and all closed down and most want you to pay up front now before they get you anyone, which is not the way I'd recommend doing business) so that's my excuse. I also did the accounts every week or two for my neighbour's business until that packed up as well, but that is actually the reason for me joining here. I'd gone there for a couple of years and had to be squeezed into the garden shed which was his office, fighting with him for floor and desk space, and one day I got home to find a computer on my desk at home as we had each others keys.
I used the AOL two month free trial disk he left me and that was 17th of february 2000, the date on my profile here. In fact my original Peter name here was because it was Peter's AOL disk and name I inherited and used here as they'd used it for my email address. So without my second little job I may never have joined here as until then I saved up all the websites I wanted to see till my weekly trip to a library where the internet was free but we only got an hour. The day I got my own I searched trivia, as that was what half the library visits were for even before the internet, and I was directed here where I've remained ever since. So my work was the actual reason I got online and here.

The original post here does reek of cynicism, I must say, aaronjunior. You seem to be implying that it's not possible for someone who works to log on at different times of the day and amass all the points that they do; in fact, your last part about insinuating that some people have more than one person playing on their account is very extreme! That would be cheating, and it doesn't happen here often. As you've read in this post, many players do log on during work, and indeed some do not work at all, and you seem not to have given thought to the idea that perhaps players prefer to play in the evenings or even during the night before resorting to the idea that more than one person plays on each account! As you've said you log on at different times of the day and night sometimes, is it really difficult to imagine that others do the same?

My job title is "Bakery Clerk". I'm a doughnut fryer. I work at night so I play on here during the day.

No one admits to being a autosomnatrivialist (one who automatically does trivia in their sleep)? Whatever, I'm using that as the excuse for my low scores.

I'm a Public Servant. You know, one of those people who drink tea and do crosswords all day (NOT). I manage a small, but very busy Court registry.
