I didn't know where to put this, so I decided to put it in this section. So here's my brain teaser (I made it up myself), try and see if you can figure it out:

A member of a child protection agency was at a party. While he was there a child came up to him and told him that he hasn't eaten, slept or drank anything since the year before. The man just smiled and thought nothing of the boy's comment. Why didn't he do anything about it?

It was a New Years Eve party, and it had just clocked over to midnight?

I'd like to meet the child who can live for over a year without food, water, or sleep. I'd be impressed with 2 or 3 months.
I don't suppose the child had magical powers and thus was considered an adult in the eyes of the government?
My brain usually doesn't twist the right way for these kinds of things.

eburge was correct, and so was another user who told me in a pm. The officer was at a New Years Eve party and it had just passed midnight when the child went up to him and told him that. The child's statement was completely true too. I hope you enjoyed it!
