I agree with you, ladies. As Goldie Hawn put it in The First Wives´ Club "Sean Connery may be 200, but he´s still a stud!" LOL That´s definitely an exaggeration by far, but he´s old enough to be my grandfather...I still wouldn´t mind.

He´s the real Bond in my book also.
Then it´s a toss-up between Roger Moore & Pierce Brosnan, although I´d have to lean more towards that dark-haired Irish lad.

How about you, Sypher? Which one of the Bond girls is your favorite?

I agree too that Sean Connery is the 007. But when it comes to highland flings (as Mama so eloquently put it) I'd let that gorgeous hunk, Brosnan dance a jig on my table anyday. Although I sure wouldn't mind havin me bagpipes tuned by Mr. Connery.

I'm sorry, annie, but I have to challenge your entry of Michael Osborne as a repeat of yesterday.

Seeing as I have very few points to risk and being noble enough(ha ha ha!) to chance losing them for the greater good of the Snake community, I will have a go at challenging BL's entry on the grounds that it is not the same as the billing for the film. See Rule #2 under Invalid Entries:

quote:
2. The Actor's name must be the same as the billing for the film...no good finding out their real or full name.

In this case, the actor is billed as Umberto Elizondo, not Humberto. This is made clear on the IMDb site, which states he was credited as Umberto Elizondo for this film. I also have 3 other sites which list him as Umberto not Humberto for the film "Licence To Kill".

Over to you for consideration, Sypher.

PS. You will have noticed that in my entry for yesterday, I made sure to use Ravil Isyanov with just the one "s" 'cos that is how he is credited for GoldenEye - thereby depriving myself of a much-needed point!!

Ya got me BL. I didn't see that the first time around and spent so much time looking for an O that I forgot who posted what and never went back to look before hitting the "add reply (blast off never look back) button". I'll learn the hard way I guess.

I was under the impression that on the IMDB site the names in blue were the actors´/actress´ names, and those in black were the names of the characters they played.

If I remember correctly, Humberto Elizondo is the man´s name and then in parentheses he is credited as having played the role of (Hotel Assistant Manager, as Umberto Elizondo), which would make it the character´s name. In that case, I´d say BL´s entry is correct.

I also noticed this being done with other actors´ names, keeping their name but having it shortened or altered slightly for the movie role.

Fort - on the IMDb site, the name Humberto Elizondo is in blue as a link, but if you look across to the character name it tells you that for this film he was credited as Umberto Elizondo. Humberto may be his real name and he certainly has film roles credited to him as Humberto Elizondo, but not this one!

It does not mean that the character he is playing has the same name as his real one - it refers to how he was credited for his role. If you visit other sites for "Licence To Kill" you will find he is credited as Umberto.

Seeing as Sypher had specifically mentioned that the actor's name must be the same as the billing for the film (not their real or full name), then I would say BL's entry is invalid.

Hmmmmmmm, interesting point of view, somali.

My take: When Sypher set out the rules:

quote:
2. The Actor's name must be the same as the billing for the film...no good finding out their real or full name.
I took that rule to mean that he was trying to avoid what happened in prior games, when players went in search for the 'birth name' or 'full name' of the actor. I really didn't think he meant that we couldn't take the name of the actor (as it is actually shown) under the list of credits.

We'll see what he decides.....over to you SnakeMaster.

BL

Hmmmmm ......... it might end up as a stalemate.

Although having said that, I have found 3 websites that show Umberto credited for "Licence To Kill". Have you got 3 websites that show Humberto credited for "Licence To Kill"?

The name of the actor (as it is actually shown) under the list of credits is Umberto Elizondo - the IMDb site even points out that this is how he is credited for this particular film. The IMDb site has a link to him as Humberto Elizondo, presumably because he has been credited as that in some (maybe the majority) of his films. But not for "Licence To Kill" where he appears on the credits as they would roll at the cinema as Umberto Elizondo.

Either way, I'm sure his name will remain in our memories for a long time to come - out of all proportion to his status as a small-part actor!! LOL

Cool New Gadgets Used by James Bond.....

10. Condom that doubles as a self-inflating hot-air balloon.

9. "The Cartman" -- an anal probe that facilitates otherwise impossible ski moves.

8. Condom coated with truth serum.
7. Can of whoop-ass disguised as a Diet Coke.

6. Miniature caulking gun for holes in the plot.

5. Giant foam hand that says "British Secret Service #1!"

4. Viagra Martini: for when he's shaken, not stirred.

3. Really grippy pliers.

2. Cool British sports car that -- get this -- actually *runs*!

1. Whatever it is, I bet a cheap plastic replica of it will fit in a Happy Meal.

Pling's entry doesn't list the character name, so is it invalid then?

Re the "as credited" discussion of yesterday, I see Fort has put the "Jr" part of her entry in brackets to show it doesn't count, seeing as old P.A. is credited without it in "Licence To Kill" - so no need for a challenge there then! LOL

Count me in, Mama!

Make mine a 'double'....I guess my sending Sypher not 3, but 6 sites, showing ole Elizondo as Humberto, not Umberto should classify it as a 'celebratory' drink. lol

Yes, I put the Jr. in brackets for two reasons.

1) Pedro Armendáriz is also listed in From Russia With Love, which is a much earlier film, so I took that to be his father.

2) I wasn´t sure if Jr. would be considered something akin to I or II, which have gone in brackets, and I didn´t want to leave myself open to challenges.

I´m off to an island in the Atlantic Coast tomorrow so I won´t be around to post. Not that it would have made much difference in my score anyway. LOL Pass me one of those tropical umbrella drinks, Mama!

With a twist of fate and like any good film plot....a dramatic U-turn !! Bridelady has successfully defended her entry and as the Challengee has the home advantage against the challenger. Somali now loses all her points for that day and Bridelady receives an extra 10 points for defence.

Rules state that an entry must be defended or backed-up by at least three sites. Bridelady sent SIX !! Even though Somali might have just as many, the challenge was still made and defended and therefore loses the challenge. NO DRAWS !! (Unlike the very first time this happened, it was amended after that to avoid the same situation)

This is a final ruling....no arguments !!
