have YOU ever tried to name all 50 American states after a few beers? We found 51! ...and our current president found 57! We're still trying to find those seven. And has anyone EVER had scrambled eggs on a burger??? :? Never scrambled, but eggs on one? Yes. There is a place here called "Steak and Shake" that has them.

Crikey, no wonder he is President! We are obviously not clever enough. I think you're closer...you probably said "Puerto Rico" for #51...

I think you're closer...you probably said "Puerto Rico" for #51... Um, nope. It took a while to register that Baltimore is NOT a state.

The offering of scrambled eggs on a burger was priceless! The more important issue is the supply of beetroot on the burger. It's not a burger without beetroot. So was there beetroot on your burger Copago? have YOU ever tried to name all 50 American states after a few beers? We found 51! At least no one suggested Canada or Mexico ...and our current president found 57! We're still trying to find those seven. Who's game enough to send a link to FunTrivia to President Obama? Now that's a referral to be proud of!

I remember when I met my in-laws for the first time, years before I even met my husband, my father-in-law-to-be challenged me to name all 50 states of America. He was flabbergasted when I was able to do so. At the time I was a kid who'd never left her home town. He said most American kids couldn't have done it. I could still do it today, but it would take a lot longer! The memory bank isn't what it used to be, unfortunately.
Glad to hear you all had a wonderful time (as I knew you would). Also glad to hear that you found a good venue. It's difficult to find a place where you can make yourself heard these days.

Don't forget where Obama was born. As well as the island of Hawaii, he would have also included Kaua'i, Kaho'olawe, Lana'i, Maui, Moloka'i, Ni'ihau and O'ahu.
Thanks for a very pleasant evening. It was lovely meeting you all and such a relief that everybody was so nice. As Ozzz said "I haven't met an axe murderer at one of these, yet".
I hope to meet up with you all in the future.
By the way, did anybody end up having the "Editor's Downfall"?
Edited to fix and add: D'oh! that's the problem with cutting and pasting, then not previewing. Many a lesson to be learnt there. Might even be called an Editor's Downfall.

If the two are together, I couldn't agree more.

You haven't lived until you've had a proper Aussie burger with all the essential ingredients: Beef patty(ies), sauce, barbecued onions, cheese, bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato, beetroot (pickled), and possibly pineapple. Trust me, just about everyone Pom or Yank that comes here and tries one of my burgers is converted. Here's a pic, though it's not with the traditional burger buns which make it even better! http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l60/Vixxens/Forster%2008/?action=view¤t=IMG_2272.jpg *drool* Edited to add the egg which I forgot!

Not a chance, all I want is the beef patty and some onions in my bun.

I'd leave the beetroot and pineapple off...but the rest I'd be willing. I had a burger with a fried egg on it at Steak and Shake, and it actually was quite good.

Firstly, I am actually cooking burgers as I type - beef patty, cheese, bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato and BBQ sauce on (this is where I really cheat) a toasted Turkish bread roll (beats a hamburger bun, hands down)
I'm having a bit of trouble digesting what I'm reading (and no need to pardon the pun). I can understand the debate about beetroot and to some extent about pineapple (I love pineapple on a burger), but egg?
I always thought egg was a standard (albeit, considered an extra, especially on the bill) for any good burger and it has to run. The true art of cooking and assembling a great hamburger is to have the egg run over the other ingredients and soak into the bun, so that you are left with a only a respectable sized blob of yolk on your plate, to be soaked up with the last skerrick of your roll.

Obviously NOT a good Aussie here, as I will pass on both the beetroot and the egg on my burger ! And using damper instead of a bread roll is rather nice, but a burger is not a burger if you forget the fried onion..and the best burger I ever had used chili sauce ...

and the best burger I ever had used chili sauce ... Maybe you ought to try one with jalapeños then, tezza, especially if you're a fan of spicy foods.
