zozo has a very valid point, but Sypher, you don't respond in a timely fashion......we're all aware that the UK is 5 hours ahead of the U.S., as is Tazmania, but lately it seems that you have opted to only converse with people in the UK....I could be wrong, but I don't see a dialogue going like it was before. BL

Actually Bridelady, I'm haven't been on-line much this past weekend due to my sister's wedding. As for the rest of the time...I'm more or less on-line during the day (UK time) which means I have disappeared from 11am FT Time until 1am the next day. At the moment, life at home is hectic, what with work, organinzing a wedding and keeping the other half sweet as she doesn't like to be a PC Widow !! LOL Now, onto some answers...When I meant Foreign Films, it was supposed to relay that Titles in a Foreign Language. This doesn't mean you can use the translation of a foreign title into english unless it was released in a country with that name. For example...there are many foreign films that were released in other countries with 'English' titles. These are acceptable. What I don't want to see is a title a mile long in a foreign language that no-one can understand. As for running out of letters...that rule will not change yet...it might change for Thursday and Friday !! Animated films are allowed...it was just Documentaries that weren't. Plus, the comment on 'A','The, 'An'....That could also be changed but not until Thursday or Friday. It all depends how everyone get's on. [ 06-19-2001: Message edited by: Sypher ]

Good morning Sypher. I think I've now got it clear as to what is and isn't allowed (for today anyway!), but I could have used a much longer "A" name yesterday if I hadn't been avoiding translations - like your entry for today, for example. However, since you have just given me the first "T" of the game I will forgive you! LOL

That's the problem with foreign films....The film had to have been released with that title...not just a straight transalation. Most Hong Kong films are released in both langauges due to, and I'm gonna guess, the huge British population !!

Unlike mine and your entry for today...I found in my searches thru IMDB that some Foreign langauge films have their English translation underneath. They are not mentioned as 'AKA'. As you know....AKA is allowed. This is what I meant by that quote. I hope this clears a few things up !! I know the following quote was a bit misleading and my apologies to everyone.... quote:

All the translations for "colour" films that I have seen listed on IMDb have aka in front of them.

Great, I´m more confused than ever now also! Sypher..please, please make some sense of this for us. Pretty please?  Or, if anyone else can make sense of it, feel free to clue me in. Do English AKAs for foreign titles count? Are these allowed even if the IMDb doesn´t specify in which country the movie was released in English? If I think of any more ways to confuse myself, I´ll let you know.

Well that's me just back from a lovely trip to Peterhead - not!! That has got to be the ugliest town in Scotland - grey, hideous town centre, horrible road to get there. It's known as the "Blue Toon" and it certainly has that effect on me - give me dear old Banff anyday. At least I won't have to go back there for another six months. Can I have one of your delicious concoctions please Mama? - I'll leave the ingredients up to you but as potent as possible please!
