My favorite part is the moderator of the Tavern back on Oct 4, 1999. I remember her - she's a really sweet, wonderful person.

Linda1, I can't find my first post at FT, but if you check the Classic Movies topic in the earliest thread available for the Movie Forum (Oct., 1999) you'll find the two of us talking about the movies we both love. And that's how we met. You were so friendly and nice--that's why I hung around this place.
I was a complete newbie to the world of the internet at that time. I had heard about all the wackos one should steer clear of in cyberspace. And suddenly I came upon this site and met such a nice, intelligent person, who shared my love of movies. And then I met Pinhead and Gunslinger, and the rest, as they say, is history.

oh mega nostalgia - it's so interesting,i have been surfing olde funtrivia for the last hour!!

altho i registered in april 2001, i had started to play quizzes and surf the community in december 2000 - it was great to look through it all - i noticed some names that i haven't seen around for a while:

Dreamweave, Snowbird, Silver Moonsong, Leprechaun.

Who was Terry and who was Terry Mod?

isn't it about time it was re-worked?? has anyone read it???

No matter what we tell you about "privacy policies" you continue to ask. To be honest, if you are that paranoid about your privacy online, I suggest you do not post. People will misuse your data a lot more readily from forum posts than anything you have in your account profile.

Our privacy policy is simple: we don't give away any info you give us, and we won't spam you. It hasnt changed in 4 years because I have had no reason to change its simplicity in 4 years.

Something else: privacy policies posted on websites are meaningless. Websites abuse your data all the time. These little text blurbs are not legally binding, and they are not enforcable. And they are rarely followed.

While I can assure you that FunTrivia operates honestly, *YOU* have no way of being sure of that (as you dont on any other website).

As a general rule of thumb: Never, ever, enter any information into a website that you wouldn't mind seeing published on the front page of the New York Times.

I've seen nothing to contradict your statement that the site is honest
Have had numerous queries about my e-mail address
(its that - because I run a Quiz League)
I don't mind that

Have experienced the censoring of my "Censored" posts (got one to many * in a censored word)
I don't object to that

Have seen blatant advertising (notified a moderator) and seen it removed quickly.
I applaud that.

When a site obviously wants to stay honest, they do those sorts of things.

Does anyone remember when the green frog disappeared for a time until it was resurrected by popular demand? I don't recall the details, maybe someone can fill me in.
