I received a substantial gift certificate from Amazon for my Christmas bonus at work. I have been considering purchasing a Kindle but not sure which version of the product I want to get. I am intrigued by the internet features on the Kindle Fire and think that could replace my laptop needs on road trips. Any thoughts from those who may have one of these items or researched them yourself? ...Lynn

I haven't looked into it too much - but for going on trips, if you only stay at hotels that have wireless internet you should be fine. But I've stayed at a few that either had no wireless or it didn't work very well and we needed to resort to ethernet cables - I don't think the Kindle Fire has an ethernet jack.

not sure about that either. I do have a laptop, but due to its size, this would be a nicer option for flights and even ease of use in the car. ..Lynn
