The Waikato Chiefs won away against the Cheetahs and moved to the top of the table as the previously unbeaten Stormers lost (away to Crusaders)
Good round for the Kiwis? You bet....the two Kiwis here, Howie72 and N-Bomb both had a perfect round and with the added bonus point, Howie joins wwe84 at the top of the ladder....

The Waikato Chiefs continue to stay on top of the table with a very close away win over another strong outfit, Natal Sharks. The Stormers bounced back from last week's defeat by beating the defending champs Queensland Reds.
N-Bomb is on fire here. He picks up a second successive perfect round and cuts the lead at the top to 3 points (from 5 last week). Joining him in having a perfect round are Sypher and gtho4
At the other end MrFox picks his 4th successive spoon and his 6th spoon in 9 rounds! He seems pretty well-trenched at the basement and looks set to continue there for some more time!

The Stormers and Waikato Chiefs both are continuing on their merry ways in the league. Otago Highlanders is keeping pace with the leaders, while the Auckland Blues are going through a horror season, losing this week at home to Queensland Reds.
It was a good week to go default as 5 away teams won this round. illiniman14, Davjack and MrFox must be pretty pleased they either forgot to tip or stayed away on purpose 
Of those who tipped, paper_aero had a perfect round and vaulted himself up the ladder even as the top 4 put a little distance between themselves and the rest...5 players bagged a spoon each this week with 4 out of 6...normally a mid table score, but not this round!

More interestingly, illiniman14 made his debut in this comp last year, went the whole season without a spoon and has gone 10 rounds this season as well without one...that's 28 rounds and counting... wwe84 fell off the top of ladder for the FIRST time this season and that's the biggest news of the week! Howie72 had a perfect round, along with paper_aero and George95 and this vaulted him to the top of the ladder here.

The Melbourne Rebels shocked the Canterbury Crusaders at home while the Waikato Chiefs lost to defending champs Queensland Reds for only their second loss this season...The Auckland Blues won for just the second time this season and the Western Province Stormers are still winning...
Eraserhead (bless him for those wonderful ways in which he makes his picks  )picked up a bonus point for picking the Rebels' upset, otherwise there's not much movement this week.
George95 picked his second HoF in a row, while ozzz2002, LeoDaVinci and BxBarracuda all picked up their second spoons for the season

An even spread of 4 HoFs and 4 spoons this week and some minor scrambling for places, but Howie72 and wwe84 are beginning to put some distance between themselves and the rest. Let's see if N-Bomb, Sypher and paper_aero can have any say over the final 4 weeks of the comp...
The Stormers lost for only the 2nd time this season while the Blues continue to lose to everybody. The Reds and the Cheetahs won close matches by a single point, while the Rebels took a hiding at the hands of the Hurricanes.

Howie72 pulls a further point ahead of wwe84 while George95 moves up the ladder with a HoF show this round. He picked up a sole pick bonus along with N-Bomb to cap a good round for himself.

This comp took a 3 week break and I forgot I was hosting it   Why did we have a break when just 3 rounds were left? ...
oh well...wwe84 might just be wondering that too, as he returned from the break by picking up his first spoon for the season and falling to 3rd place...his LOWEST the whole season! Taking advantage of this was the other Kiwi, N-Bomb, who picked up one of the many HoFs for the round and moved to second place behind his countryman Howie72.
Will this be our podium for the season then? Sypher and George95 may well have a final say in this over the last 2 rounds, especially if wwe84 has another bad round....will he? let's wait and see

It turned out to be a very fascinating last round of the 2012 Super XV Rugby, both on the field of play and here in our comp...
The Stormers went to the top of the standings beating Melbourne Rebels, getting a bye next weekend and a home Semi-final. The Chiefs lost their last 2 matches to finish second in the standings.
Then the surprise. After a disaster of a season, Auckland Blues shocked the ACT Brumbies in the Brumbies' backyard to finish the season with 2 wins in a row, and with the Queensland Reds winning their sixth match in a row, it meant the Reds finished as the Australian champions and qualified for the play-offs.
The first week of play-offs thus sees the Canterbury Crusaders take on the Northern Transvaal Bulls, while the Reds play against the Natal Sharks.
In our comp here, wwe84 made a valiant bid to catch Howie72 but after a brilliant penultimate round, came unstuck in the final. A couple of his picks didn't work this round and he finished with a spoon and also allowed N-Bomb to overtake him....but making a strong surge towards the end was George95, who picked the Hurricanes to beat the Chiefs this week, thus picking a bonus point. He also won the rounds HoF to tie with wwe84 on the total score and the number of HoFs. It was finally the number of spoons that decided the bronze medal in favor of wwe84.
Of the rest of us, Sypher and paper_aero finished the season without a single spoon. illiniman14 also finished the season without a spoon, but then, he also did not lodge any tips the last 4 rounds, so I leave it to the higher authorities to decide if his streak can continue next season...
Eraserhead was surprisingly off target this season, and he, along with LeoDaVinci and MrFox, were the only ones to end up without a single HoF this season. MrFox picked up the most cutlery this season and may well have added to his collection had he lodged tips in all rounds BxBarracuda and Davjack tried to catch him on the spoons front but couldn't...maybe next season for them
gtho, ozzz and srini all had a very average middle of the rung season and they never threatened the front runners the entire season...
So our podium for 2012 then is:

I don't understand rugby, and never will. Well done to the two blokes from across the ditch and also to Wwe for keeping the Aussie flag flying. Also, great work by Srini, too.
