I know all of you music lovers out there, like myself have got to have certain songs that we care to listen to and enjoy more if we are alone and in the dark, maybe so we can let loose or just enjoy all the wording or music. Let me know what yours are.

Here are a few of mine for now........

Time~~~~~~~~~Pink Floyd
Never There~~~~~~Cake
Ironic~~~~~Alanis Morrisette
Enjoy the Silence~~~~~~Depeche Mode

Have fun

I love listening to "War of the Worlds" while laying in bed and it being pitch dark ... the music and Richard Burtons voice are so spooky that it's good fun.

I can't think of any particular songs ... i'll think about it.

Your right "War of the Worlds" is a good one,
personally the whole "Dark Side of the Moon" album by Pink Floyd is my favorite for in the dark. My favorite! But the song Time is the best!

I don't think morbid, I just know it is personal prefence. I truly believe that music is very personal to every person no matter what the taste is.

Have a good one,

I'm on this Celtic craze right now. I have a few mixed CDs I play. I could go cadge my daughter's Era tape too, that's more impersonal.
Nothing like that drone sound in the dark.

I prefer minor keys in music, no matter what. Funny as I'm a pretty joyful person, but I love minor keys.

Me bruyere, I prefer the music I listen to to be personal to me and full of messages. Like I had posted earlier, the "Dark Side of the Moon album by Pink Floyd, this album is so full of messages and thoughts. I loose myself listening to this. I don't know if you have ever heard it or care for it. But I can tell you that the only reason I started listening to and loving this group and their songs was because I atttended a concert of theirs and because of their show my opinion of them made a 360 in my mind. Been a fan ever since and still waiting for them to get over this way.

By the way, no offense to you, but who is Celtic Craze and what type of music do they perform. Just wondering, I thought I knew most of it at least. This is the trivia fan coming out in me and wanting to know more!!

Sorry, I wasn't too clear, I have a bunch of Celtic groups, primarily some compiliations of Celtic music from all over the world, wherever they settled.
As I'm in France there's a really interesting group called Dan Ar Brazh for example.
I have some Scottish musicians too, classics like the Corries, or others.
The CD's I listen to have a variety of voices, and one will be in French and Breton (a variety of Gaelic) and then another will be in Irish Gaelic.
What I love about this type of music is that you have rhythms that people do when they don't have other instruments. They use their voices like a drum!
The reason Celtic music is kind of sad or mournful is that you have a drone sound that is a fourth note away from the melody line.
That's why loads of people can't take the bagpipe!

Us Northern Californians have to stick together.
Ever visit the Renaissance Fair there in the Sonoma valley? I used to love going there and hearing folk instruments or that harp! That's my dream to play one.

No I have never been to that specific fair, maybe I should take it up next time. I just hate crouds though so don't attend a lot of those kind of things.
That is a nice dream, my dream is to be have any useful musical talent what-so-ever. I have no musical talent at all! My best friend, wrote, sang, and played all instruments on a 9 song CD that she mixed and put produced. What a talent I wish I had what she has in her pinky finger. Maybe that is why I appreciate so many kinds of music???
Go for that dream, get a harp teacher on the phone and get those lessons.

I agree we have to stick together, I notice there are not a lot of us that post often in here.

Have a good night [Big Grin]

Definatley the song Killing Time, by Destiny's Child. It's about a girl waiting on the stairs for her boyfriend to come, and he hasn't come by 3:00 AM. Very slow moving, not many instruments played in it.

Now that would be cool, get up in the dark and play the harp?
I'm spoiled when I think of it. For me, playing an instrument used to come like breathing. You could throw one at me, and I'd give it a try.
But the harp, I tried one a month ago, and that'll be for when I get a good sized house!

And I'll have to start acting like an angel!

Oh no! Not an angel.......

Personally, I think you could swing that role, but your right that Harp may be the death of an angel, with it's size and weight.

Been gone all day, I feel lost now

It's been a while.....and a f***ing long journey since I last posted (I'll tell you later)! Here's my late nite tunes......

4 Hero: Les Fleur (a brilliant re-jig of the Minnie Ripperton song. Awesome!)

Kraftwerk: Tour De France (The future sound of Europe?)

Jean Michelle Jarre: Zoolook

Billie Ray Martin: Put Your Loving Arms Around Me

Moby: We Are All Made Of Stars (I didn't want to like this, but I do!)

Telepopmuzik: Breathe (All exhale....relax!)

Sabres Of Paradise: Smokebelch (Beatless mix)

Crosby, Stills & Nash: Long Time Gone

Boards Of Canada: Amo Bishop Rodan (Sounds like coastal Scotland)

In a dark room, this would make me super relaxed!
It just has!

Love to you all!

OH my! It's been so long! I'm so happy you've come back!
I'll just have to do my rendition of the Skye Lullaby then!

The harp I have in mind isn't one of those big things, they scare me! I'd have a small one, with a figure head on it.

I always give my things names too. When I paid for my flute each month as a kid, by working each month, (it's a Selmer by the way, the best in the States) it just became personalized to me. I called it Julian. Then many years later, I named my son Julian! The original idea was Lennon's son. I'd never really heard the name before that.
SFA, welcome back with open arms, we missed you!

Geez I can't seem to post fast enough for my own satisfaction. My first mistake was putting a brainteaser post on this morning before I left for the day (basically) anyway and of course people were trying to see if thier answers were correct and I an just now catching up and getting into the other forums.

Credence, would be nice. But not in the dark! I like it on Fridays, we used to play it on the speakers on Fridays in the motorcycle shop where I worked!
Nothing like the raw sound of "I Heard It On The Grapevine" on a Friday afternoon.

SuperFurryAnimal is one of our old timers, or at least by my standards, and is one of our steadfast soldiers in music. I mean, he beats me to a quick in eclectic tastes!
I'm not sure if the old posts are still here, but he and I met in a discussion on the merits of techno! And we both came out unscathed.
I suppose he brings out the pitbull in Heather!

I'm sorry, the Celtic stuff would do it for me, or, well, I sniff even thinking about it, but George Michael's stuff would be perfect.
"Cries and Whispers"
"Like Jesus to a Child", in particular because it has the motif of someone coming to you in the night when you need it the most...
I suppose I love those songs so much that I don't even like to mention them!

Hello there Tazzly! I used to hang out here a while back, until circumstances denied me internet access. It's a nice place though, and I have no intentions of being a stranger! Cheers for the warm welcome Heather!

Well then we even out superfurry, because I am quite new here about 1/2 month but I am everywhere on the forum or at least try to be. I have seen nothing but great things said to you and your welcome back. So I believe we will get to know each other quite well. Welcome back!!!
Oh and Bruyere, I think Credence is good for just about anything of course dependant on the song. I am glad you have your co-hort back with you!!
