Post some lyrics that touch you or mean something to you....

for example...

"what of the mother whose house is in flames and both of her children are in their beds crying and she loves them both with the whole of her heart but she knows she can only carry one at a time? she's choking on the smoke of unthinkable choices she is haunted by the voices of so many desires
she's bent over from the business of begging forgiveness while frantically running around putting out fires" - Ani Difranco "School Night"

I dunno if you've heard it but i think ben fold five's song 'brick' is particularly moving!

So many lyrics are empty that it really is special when they have real meaning.

This is why I choose to listen mostly to folk-ish singer/songwriters. I like music that has meaning and makes you think/feel. Ani Difranco in particular does that for me and over the past 10 years she has had time to grow and evolve as an artist. Patty Griffin and Lucinda williams are along the same lines. I love just sitting silently as I work listening to these talented women tell musical stories. I always seem to find exactly the right song to go along with my mood or even alter my mood. I am just a typical karaoke singing, musically infatuated, computer geek I suppose, but that is fine with me...
