My 3 favorite songs are: Somewhere in the Night, from the 40's movie musical Moon Over Miami, Let's Get Lost, from Happy Go Lovely, and Here's that Rainy Day, from a forgotten 50' stage musical, Carnival in Flanders. tjoe};>

I like Eyeball's picks, especially "happiness is a warm gun"--nice combo of pop sound and disturbing lyrics. Truly an artistic pop song. Best UNKNOWN SONGS: "Waiting for the Sun"--the Jayhawks "Boys Will be Boys"--the Geardaddies "Butterfly"--Mason Jennings "Rocket Ship"--Dylan Hicks and just so they are not all Minnesotan: "A New Used Car and a Plate of Barbeque"--Jack Logan and just so they are not all American, and not from the last 10 years: "London Calling"--the Clash ------------------ I Need Some Partners! --JoJo

New one: Richard Buckner's "The Hill", which is technically an entire album, but it's only one track on the CD. It's all poems for Edgar Lee Master's "Spoon River Anthology" and it's effin Brilliant. ------------------ I Need Some Partners! --JoJo

olatopo, the song from BodyGuard that you're thinking of is probably "I Will Always Love You." However, that will, forever in my own mind, be Dolly Parton's alone! It's really her song, and I've always thought her original version topped Houston's version! Just my own opinion!

Originalcallie, that "American Pie" song is good! I also found a very funny thread in Jokes and Humor titled "AOL Pie". Something worth searching for. You all have great choices. Thanks for saying that this is a great question.

"Two Points for Honesty" by Guster -- what can I say, it's my anthem "Eleanor Rigby" by the Beatles Pachelbel's Canon in D -- not really a "song" but it rocks

I have to add something to my list: This is actually an entire cd, it literally blew me away. "Infinite Possibilities" by Amel Larrieux I didn't know anything about this person til about 3 days ago, but I swear her work is genius. I can't classify her sound..it has some pop, some r&b, some Native American influence, some blues, some gospel..etc. It is amazing, her lyrics are stunning and heart wrenching, at times. If I had to pick a favorite song on the cd it would be "Sweet Misery". I HIGHLY recommend this cd. Can ya tell I like it??? ------------------ You cannot have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

jags2000, have you heard the cover of Jealous Guy on the album pop artificielle? It happenes to be my ex-boyfriend and mine's song; wierd, huh? Maybe, but it's definitely better than the original. Man, I've got too many favorite songs, but I'll limit it to those who are currently keeping my attention. Fleeting as it is. #1: "All I Need" - AIR - Moon Safari "Elegantly Wasted" INXS - Elegantly Wasted "People of the Sun" RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE - Evil Empire "Violaine" COCTEAU TWINS - milk & kisses "The Olde HeadBoard" RASPUTINA - How We Quit the Forest "i n i" AMEL LARRIEUX - Infinite Possibilities "Jesus or a Gun" FUEL - Sunburn "Hunter" BJORK - Homogenic "Lemon Parade" TONIC - Lemon Parade "Transylvanian Concubine" RASPUTINA - Transylvanian Regurgitations ------------------ "I'm nobody's Tonto."

I forgot to explain why "All I Need" is my favorite song. Has been for the past 2 years. Given that I live in perpetual greyness, it's rare that I find something that gives me hope. Even though (or because of?) I feel melancholy listening to it, this song lifts me from the gulch of cliches I find suffocating me. Here are the lyrics: AIR "ALL I NEED" All I need is a little time To get behind this sun and cast my weight All I need's a peace of this mind Then I can celebrate All in all there's something to give All in all there's something to do All in all there's something to live With you... All I need's a little sign To get behind this sun and cast this weight All I need's the place to find And there I'll celebrate All in all there's something to give All in all there's something to do All in all there's something to live With you... ------------------ "I'm nobody's Tonto."

I find that "Favourite Song" is a very much a dynamic concept, changing constantly so I'll say that my favourite song right now is "Idioteque" by Radiohead off their latest KidA.... Oh, Wrennaz just noticed that one your favs listed is "Elegantly Wasted" INXS - Elegantly Wasted ..I used to think that was a fitting song but not after the events at the Carlton hotel on that fateful morning....you can call it many things, but elegant ain't one... OriginalCallie...REO Speedwagon?...I can assure you that I have nothing to admit to myself regarding them ....sure I do from time to time have to remind myself that there was a period in musical history where bands like REO did not only exist but were played on the radio...but my doctor has advised me against it...I mean of all the songs available to choose from...still art is subjective and I'm sure that their particular sound has appeal....to the deaf...that taste operation is not too expensive OC...maybe we can get a Appeal going to raise the funds..yeah I'm sure we'll get the $ required..."Please help this unfortunate gal so that she is able to enjoy music like the rest of us...stop this tragic liking of REO Speedwagon"...we'd raise thousands...lol...just keepin ya busy..cya ------------------ If all the worlds wealth were divided between every man, woman & child presently alive on the planet, we would all have $13 million a piece. ************************************************** $13 Million for every single Human.... **************************************************

wrennaz said, >karma, >Why is he haunted by rumours of auto-erotic asphyxiation? Because he was found, from my understanding, hanging from a door with a belt around his neck. Not the typical way to hang yourself. I believe he was also nude, which probably fuels this story/myth/reality (choose which one you prefer). np: Lassigue Bendthaus - Render
