Are you just talking about solo artists? If not, then I would have to say that my favourite singer is Eddie Vedder. I love his lyrics, and the dude has just got an amazing deep voice. He's got an awesome singing ability. However, if you were only referring to solo artists, I would have to go for Sarah McLachlan. Yeah, I know what you're thinking who on this planet listens to both Pearl Jam and Sarah McLachlan? Anyways, I'm getting off topic. I think she has a beaautiful voice. Some of her songs are an eensy weensy bit too slow, But the vast majority of them are cool, espcially "Ice Cream."

Metallica's frontman has always been James Hetfield. I like Sarah McLaughlin and Gwen Stefani. It's so hard to pick just one...there are so many different genres out there...I like Diana Krall, Brian McKnight, etc.

Mine would be Adam Durtiz (counting Crows), Butch Walker (Marvelous 3), Joey Ramone, Elvis Costello, Stevie Nicks and this last one will get me made fun of for weeks, but Taime Downe from Faster Pussycat and most recently the Newlydeads (I love a man with a sleazy voice) Let the picking on begin Indie

When it comes to singers, I have a weakness for Women Country singers, and R&B singers. My favorites, therefore and forthwith: Emmy Lou Harris Lucinda Williams Sam Cooke (I can't believe I'm the first to say this one---OTIS REDDING) Marvin Gaye James Brown Van Morrison Jeff Buckley Ryan Adams I also like the bad voiced whities-- Phil Ochs Bobby Dylan Vic Chesnutt Neil Young

Bono (pre-late '90s) Andrea Bocelli (wowowow) Sarah Brightman Rosemary Clooney Alison Krause Rosa Lamoreaux (her Renaissance work is amazingly beautiful!) Tori Amos (she's wacky but she's got some great pipes!) Reba McEntire James Maynard (from Tool and Perfect Circle, wow!) I would say Sarah McLachlin too, but she goes sharp too often. Hmm, I wonder how many of these names I spelled right? Oh, a side note to tomije... Bob Dylan? Really? I mean he is a great songwriter, but a great singer?

well Jim.... I KNOW who you are talking about. Not ALL of us younger people just listen to "crap" music. Why you are speaking of Frankie and of Ms. Streisand. Am I right???
