If a movie were made about your life, what would the theme song be and why.

Being a Jimmy Buffett officiando, and big fan I would have to choose one from his list. I think I would choose "Margaritaville". If Jimmy would not let me use that one then I would have to go with "A Country Boy Can Survive." Both would probably be very accurate.

That's easy: The Theme From Black Beauty (the 70's TV show)
It's already the theme for my life, especially the bits where I'm galloping, wild and free, through the fields with a young lady on my back. That doesn't happen often enough though.....

A college instructor sort of pinned The Fool On The Hill, by the Beatles, on me. She told me that I'm relatively quiet and self-contained, yet quite observant of the world. She added that some people did not know whether to take my comments and insights seriously or not. (It was not news to me.) It's hard for people to categorize you when you seem to understand all the facets of an argument.

Day after day alone on the hill
The man with the foolish grin
is keeping perfectly still,
But nobody wants to know him
They can see that he's just a fool
And he never gives an answer

But the fool on the hill
sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning round.

(What's So Funny 'Bout)Peace, Love And Understanding

As I walk through This wicked world
Searchin' for light in the darkness of insanity.
I ask myself Is all hope lost?
Is there only pain and hatred, and misery?

And each time I feel like this inside,
There's one thing I wanna know:
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

And as I walked on Through troubled times
My spirit gets so downhearted sometimes
So where are the strong And who are the trusted?
And where is the harmony? Sweet harmony.

'Cause each time I feel it slippin' away, just makes me wanna cry.
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

So where are the strong? And who are the trusted?
And where is the harmony? Sweet harmony.

'Cause each time I feel it slippin' away, just makes me wanna cry.
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What's so funny 'bout peace love & understanding?

...too often we put things in a box. "Peace, Love & Understanding" has been put in the "tree hugging losers" box. Yeah, it sounds a bit pansy. But is there really any other goal that's more worthy of attainment?

Am I the only person in the world who feels like this?

Around the World in 80 Days.

Not the Whoopie Goldburg version though! Delete the expletives.

Or the alternative version "Con Te Partiro" by Andrea Boccelli...especially the countries I haven't seen bit.

"Still Crazy After All these Years" by Paul Simon or "Magic Every Moment" by Dan Fogelberg. I have seen some amazing things in my life. For me, fortunately, the good still outweighs the bad. It helps to be a little crazy to get through the bad times. I especially like the part in "Still Crazy" where it says, "But I would not be convicted by jury of my peers, still crazy after all these years."

My favorite part of Magic Every Moment is right at the beginning when he sings about a bird that smashes through a window and appears to be dead but then is still somehow able to fly away basically unharmed.

"I awoke this morning to a shattering sound and I went downsatirs and found these shards of glass strewn all around
There upon the floor I found this poor broken dove and it made me think about this fragile life taht we so love.
I went back up to bed and I held you so tight and I prayed up to the Father, oh, I prayed with all my might
That He'd always keep you with me, that He'd always keep us safe
And when I went downstairs I found that dove had somehow up and flown away.
There's A Magic Every Moment
There's A Miracle Each day
There's A Magic Every Moment
Won't You let the music play
Oh, won't you let the music play."

It reminds me to remain optoimistic when I feel like a "broken dove" that sometimes you can get up and fly out of a broken window.

The theme song for the movie about my life definitely has to be "Rock and Roll All Night," (and party every day), at least for the first half of it anyway. I think, if you know the song, that you'll probably be able to figure out what I mean.
Well, now that I've started a family those days are over. For these days the only song I can think of is Amy Grant's "Baby Baby". That song definitely explains the way I feel about my daughter, Sacha Rae. She's definitely the most beautiful little girl in the whole wide world.
