I've never heard it though. I just put "longest song title" into Google and "Voila"! Not too much skill involved there!

Aha, but I have them on CD: Queen Alexandra road is where she sais she'd be, but was she there to meet me. No chance - the Toy Dolls or, a bit shorter: everytime I eat vegetables, it makes me think of you - the Ramones but, I'm still impressed a lot

You guys are the tops! I'd have to overhaul my search engines for that one. Or soup them up! Aren't there any Welsh titles that beat that? They have the longest town name after all!

Your song title is mucj longer than the only one I could think of: "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls" by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays.

As far as I can gather, this is the longest song title know to man. If there is a longer one, will it be as funny? Heather, so sorry. No Yank dissin' from me from now on.

Interesting.. although I'll beat that world record right now. Here's my new song, titled "So you thought you'd come down and visit me today. Well you're not going to be able to find me because I've headed down to the store to pick up some stuff. So long, and thanks for all the fish." To prove that this is a song, its words go like: "So you thought you'd come down and visit me today. Well you're not going to be able to find me because I've headed down to the store to pick up some stuff. So long, and thanks for all the fish." It's to the tune of the star spangled banner. Do I get a prize? Terry

This song title isn't the longest by a long shot but I just HAD to include it: "How Could You Believe Me When I Said I Love You When You Know I've Been A Liar All My Life". Well, it's one of the longest titles. Written by Burton Lane and Alan Jay Lerner for Stanley Donen's first film, Fred Astaire and Jane Powell make a classic vaudeville turn, a high spot in an otherwise so-so musical. Catch it if you can! tjoeb };>

Of course they nowhere near beat you guys longest titles- but I've always had a liking for these ones: "If you died I wouldn't cry cos you never loved me anyway"- Mya "If i said you had a beautiful body would you hold it against me"- Bellamy Brothers "There's a guy works down the chip shop swears he's Elvis"- Kirsty McColl See Ya!

The longest which comes to mind is Am I The Only One Who's Ever Felt This Way, by the Dixie Chicks.

I have a few, which (as we have already realised) are not even close to being the longest titles, but I think they're pretty ace anyways: It's The End Of the World As We Know It (I Feel Fine) - REM (funnily enough, probably the band with the shortest name! and Why Does The Sun Shine? (The Sun Is A Mass of Incandescent Gas) - They Might Be Giants or how about... Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except for Me and My Monkey - The Beatles[ 12-19-2001: Message edited by: tanzen ]

Gosh, I love They Might Be Giants. Another non-contender, but quality anyway: Simon & Garfunkel's "A Simple Desultory Philippic (Or How I Was Robert McNamara'd Into Submission)"

Speaking of long song titles, there's a 7 inch single I have by an obscure aussie bloke in 1976 which is titled "Sitting on the footpath outside this down trodden cafe watching all the girls go by sipping on my ice cold beer as I light a cigarette and think what could have been if I had stayed with you and treated you better." The wierdos name is Brendan Hartney and his music could be desribed as a cross between rock and country. Also for some long song titles I'd check out some of 10CC's album track titles.

Okay, since we're on the topic, here's the longest title of any Top-40 hit: "Jeremiah Peabody's Poly Unsaturated Quick Dissolving Fast Acting Pleasant Tasting Green and Purple Pills." It may not be as long as others I've seen here, but it's noteworthy. This Ray Stevens classic peaked at #35 in 1961.

My mother just hated Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's Flavor On The Bedpost Overnight?. Said a lady should never be caught chewing a big mouthful of gum. It's not the longest title, I know, but I loved that stupid song!! She couldn't stand 99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall, or Cigarettes And Whiskey, And Wild, Wild Women, either, but that's another story. [ 02-15-2002: Message edited by: LindaC007 ]

I had to bring this topic back to life, as reading it when I first became a member, I was sure there was a longer title than those given. Lo and behold I have found it. Check this out: "Sir B. McKenzie's Daughter's lament for the 77th Mounted Lancers' retreat from The Straits of Lock Knombe in the year of our Lord 1727, On the occasion of the announcement of her marriage to the Laird of Kinleakie" By Fairport Convention As for the longest word in a song, there is really no competition on this one. Here goes: "Taumatawhakatangihangakoayayauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukypokaiwhenuakitanatahymatakooatananookawamickitoura" It is 116 letters long and is a Maori placename. It means "A hill whereon was played a flute of Tamatea, circumnavigator of lands for his lady love" It was included in Quantum Jump's hit "The Lone Ranger". I defy anyone to beat those

Heres another one by Ray Stevens, "Ned Nostril and his south seas paradise, put your blues on ice, cheap at twice the price band, icky icky ugy ugy" Thats exactly how it reads on the back album cover. From the LP He thinks he's Ray Stevens. on the front it shows Ray dressed as Napoleon, on the back it shows his band chasing him with a straight jacket. ![[Big Grin]](images/icons/laugh.gif)
