I read a very interesting story about John Pierpoint who wrote Jingle Bells. According to history, Pierpoint by all accounts was a failure in his daily life and career. He was a chaplain, a silversmith, a blacksmith and finally worked as a Land deeds clerk. Yet, what he is most remembered for is a simple poem about Dashing through the Snow. It is great to know that sometimes we can remembered for doing one very small, seemingly insignificant thing and that is how people remember us. His tombstone does not read, John C. Pierpoint-failure. It reads, John C. Pierpoint-Poet, Author of Jingle Bells.
Hope you all have a wonderful start to your holiday season. Just thought I'd share this and let you know that the people on this site have been wonderful and inspirational to me this year. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas season to all.
