Teen Scene, What do you all like?

I thought we'd like to get some thoughts of real live teenagers on here, and us old doddering fools or ppls...or whatever you call us (Please don't do it on here! Yikes!) will contribute too. I'm wondering what sort of music kids are really listening to and their thoughts on the power of music today. I often enter my own children's thoughts as they are a bit too busy with homework and stuff to contribute. Maybe they'll come join us in the future. My kids and I share music in the car most often than not, sometimes at home too.
We talk about all sorts of musical topics too.
They follow up their stars, they occasionally read fan mags and stuff, they're normal kids in their tastes I guess.
But I'd like to know what music you guys like.

I listen to a lot of rap/hip hop, especially old school. But lately I've been listening to a lot of R&B, both old school and new school. I also like a little bit of jazz and some reggae

Yes indeed, Julian's asked his cousin for the R and B millenium album for Christmas. He can sing a pretty mean Craig David too when I'm not looking. Julian is only 9 though. I guess pre teens count. His classmates are all older as he's ahead in school. Hip hop is very popular here in France. Dance in general is. The fourteen year old of the household listens to most everything on the radio but other things too.

Hello bruyere, You want thoughts of teenagers about music right? Well, I'm 14 so maybe I can answer what your looking for. Everybody... including my friends... say i'm really mature. I'm too serious for my age and I admit it.  Well, anywayz... i'm from the U.S. and it just feels like music is a BIG part of American society... especially to teenagers in the US. I don't get along with my dad very well and it's like an escape without using drugs or smoking. (I don't do either of them) I love singing. Music is just apart of me. Oh... and we call old ppl Geezers.... lol! At least I do sometimes. No offence!  I personaly like Britney Spears(kinda), I LOVE Nsync! I like some older groups too like Aerosmith, I like Sting, and somemore newer ppl... Usher, blah blah blah. Well, you have my oppinion. Now for my typical saying... ...... Whatever!...

Hiya Bruyere... I turned 20 last week so I'm just slipping in here...mty tastes was pretty formed by the age of 14 anyway!! As you know I love Mariah, Toni, Celine and Whitney best. of you yonger generation Jessica and Christina have great potential. Ialso like a bit of Country (Shania., Faith, Shedaisy, martina etc.) The Corrs, Charlotte Church,Madonna, Lightning seeds I mainly like female vocalists esp. technically gifted ones. pretty radio friendly stuff too. I'm like some older stuff too e.g. Sting, Police, ABBA and easy-listening Merry christmas!!!

Hey, my son asked his grandfather for a R and B millenium CD and he got the one with, gasp...Elton John.
Guess they'll just give it to me huh?
Shania has a great voice.
I'm sorry, but I'll have to fake protest most of the groups they like, how will they ever find something to provoke me? I even like those Rai things, to a certain extent, the one with the Turkish singer?
I hate Techno, really do...and I don't care for Offspring though I find them kind of funny.

By the way, Whatever is what my brother who manages waiting staff in a restaurant says makes him want to put a waffle stomper in their butts...he's always said, "it means you really don't agree...but you don't have the guts to say so! "

Hi ya!
I am 16 and am a music lover. When I start off to college, I am going to either major in drama or music performance. Needless to say, music is a big part of my life. I love almost all music, except for most country and you know, opera-type stuff. I mostly listen to hard rock (Metallica is my favorite) and the classic stuff (The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, etc.). I listen to just about everything from pop to rap.

Pearl Jam - classic? I like that. I was in love with those guys for years (and TOTALLY - ready to bear his children - in love with Mike McCready) He didn't return the affection (not that I really expected him to) so they kind of depress me now. When I was a teenager - back in the mid-80s, early 90s, I can't recall there being very many, if any, "boy bands". Those days bands like Twisted Sister and Quiet Riot were really popular, then Ratt and Poison, and all those other "hair metal" bands came along. Ahh, the good old days
