Add me to the list of those who have to turn off the radio or TV whenever Mariah Carey comes on. I think of Mariah as someone who was given a gift of great vocal range but really doesn't know how to sing. To me, singing isn't about hitting notes, it's about conveying emotion. Mariah to me is lifeless; I don't ever believe any emotion she's trying to convey during her vocal exercises amd so she fails miserably in my eyes as a singer. And to make matters worse, she has this incredible ego that exceeds her vocal range.

I really dislike Mariah Carey. You don't have to get all eight octaves into a song, but you know, she tries pretty hard to do so. I never much liked Nirvana (I know a lot of people would rip my head off for that), and the Kaiser Chiefs are amazingly overrated.
