This has to be one of the worst songs I've ever heard in my life, perhaps THE worst. And it's also a terrible remake of a great song (for those who don't know the original was done by Michael Jackson).

...I agree, Dogg - apologies to any "Alien Ant Farm" fans out there. Actually, the guys who were announcing the chart were appalled that that song made it in as well, just for the record...

I really got sucked in by that song, the only words I knew we're Annie are you okay?. So last weekend I taped it off "Rage" and got the words off the net and then thought ... what a dumb song ... thanks Drewski, I was wondering if it were that Michael Jackson.

"he came into your apartment, left bloodstains on the carpet, then you ran into the bedroom, you were struck down, It was your doom" ..... what was I thinking??

As for the list, I had to get to 27 before there was a group I'd actually heard of and could point out in a clip ... all the way down to 38 before there was one that I actually liked. I'll be telling you all about my grey hair and walking sticks soon.

No worries mate, I had to go down a ways before I spied one I recognized not just by the name but the sound. I find the gorillaz very amusing. They remind me of some of the sixties bands. But I ask my resident djs in the back seat who it is on the radio. They remind me of the Kink's "in the summertime".
Just goes to show you that there's a bit more of a generation gap than we thought.
I also realized how much working in the backrooms as a music ed, has broadened my knowledge in writing of some of the groups.

..I also think we have to take in to consideration that there may be a lot of songs here that people outside of Australia would not know. I have noticed in the past couple of years the 100 has become more and more swamped with Australian songs. Not that this is a bad thing, I think it's brilliant. But it could make it a bit trickier for our overseas buddies to relate to it!

I have not heard the Alien Ant farm version (remember I am an old fogey). I hate Smooth Criminal. I hope the rest of their choices are better than this. Sometimes you get talked into doing songs you don't want to do by producers and industry execs. As for Michael Jackson-enough said.

"Last Nite" is a cracking little tune, and The Avalanches, Gorillaz and Basement Jaxx deserve their mentions for being rather good fun. It's nice to know that old nutters like Nick Cave, Tori Amos and Butthole Surfers can get a look in these days too. The rest of the list either leaves me cold or I don't know the songs. Oh, now that I come to think about it, "Cherry Lips" is pretty damn good. I like the way that they save that epic chorus until about 2/3rds of the way through, belt you over the head with it and then don't use it again. Classic "listen to me again" pop ploy there! Hooray for Garbage and all who swim in it!

...glad too see you back, by the way.
I must admit, half of these songs just draw a total blank with me. I've become such a musical recluse of late that I'm suprised I know as much of these as I do.
