Indulge me here fellow cellar dwellers....

Belinda Carlisle (remember her? the centre of the known musical universe, as you will soon see) decides she wants to throw a party. Who will she invite? Well, she decides to go way back to when she played in a band called The Germs with a guy called Pat Smears. She calls him up, he says "Sure thing, can I invite a friend?". Being an amiable soul, Belinda says yes and Pat phones his mate Dave Grohl from the days he was playing in The Foo Fighters. Dave's up for it and - this being a FANTASY party - asks his old bandmate Kurt Cobain along. Kurt asks Butch Vig, the producer on "Nevermind" and he asks Shirley Manson....

Belinda's on the phone to Terry Hall (The Specials, Funboy Three) with whom she wrote the wonderful "Our Lips Are Sealed", and despite his naturally dour demeanour he says he'll come along so long as he can bring Dave Stewart, ex of The Eurythmics (they worked together as Vegas a while back). Dave Stewart simply has to ask Annie Lennox to come too (she'd chew his knackers off otherwise) and she won't come without Aretha Franklin, her partner on "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves".

So the guest list is growing, and there's room for many more. What I'm wondering is, from the people mentioned above, can any of you people suggest any other potential guests? They have to have worked together in some capacity or at least have some tangible connection, or Belinda won't be having any of it!

Get your minds working........

If the Queen of Soul comes, it just wouldn't be fair if the Godfather of soul, James Brown did not also come.

instead of Annie Lennox bringing Aretha, she decides on David Bowie, who she worked with at the Freddy Mercury benefit, and David would bring Mick Jagger who he did Dancing in the Street with...who in turn would ask Bette Midler whom he worked with on Beast of Burden...

...and of course Aretha and James would invite Ray Charles, the three of them of course all being a part of the original Blues Brothers movie.

David Bowie could invite Bing Crosby (little drummer boy) and he could invite Bob Hope, just for laughs....

George would have to bring his friend Eric Clapton. Clapton of course ask if Steve Winwood could come as they are old friends from Blind Faith Days. Mr. Winwood would the ask Chaka Khan whom he worked with on the song "Higher Love" out of gratitude for helping him win a Grammy.

Sheryl (Crowe)......(one of Eric's former 'squeezes') wouldn't even be on the guest list. Unlike, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and a various assortment of 'others', who of course, would be providing the entertainment for the night, hitching up with George, to perform as the 'Travelling Wilburys'!

(and that Wilbury fella!)
