What is your favorite song of all times? Personnally, as I listen to many kinds of commercial music, I would say my favorites for each kind of music THAT I LIKE.

Metal: Metallica-Enter Sandman
Hard Rock: Disturbed-The game
Punk: Pennywise-Bro hymn
Rap: Eminem-The way I am
Techno: Zombie Nation-Kernkraft 400
Light Rock: Robbie Williams-Angel
Pop: Backstreet Boys-Show me the meaning of being lonely

But then, these are not my favorite of all times. Let me think...

Tears for Fear-Shout
U2-New year's day
and so on...

A very difficult question as I like many different types of music but the one song that always gets to me is 'A Little Help From My Friends' as performed by Joe Cocker.

Hum... A soon reply from myself... It seems I can't decide my favorite songs... Here are a few others that I couldn't get past by...

dance: Snap-Rhythm is a dancer
pop: Oasis-Wonderwall (is it really pop?)
metal: Mindless Self Indulgence-Faggot
hard rock: Linkin Park-One step closer

There are much more of course...

No Doubt-Don't speak (couldn't get past by this one)
Europe-The final countdown
Tool-Sober
Rush-Red sector A

And so on... I could continue for hours...

ok, why don't I restart from the start.
If I change the question to...
"Your favorite song of all times by type of music"

Your favorite pop-rock-dance-metal-rap-etc song of all times.

My favorite is anything by Metallica, they never cease to amaze me. OF course now they are trying to find a new Bass player.

Disturbed is a great group, the song "The Sickness" is cool.

Then there is the legends themselves....Rush, who by the way are in the studio recording a new CD due out this summer.

Another up and coming band is Default, there hit "Wasting My Time" is great.

Linkin Park is awsome as well.

There are just to many to list, as I am sure everyone has that problem, it is hard to narrow it down...

Disturbed's song is called 'Down with the sickness'

Disturbed are a great band, their music is a little like Drowning Pool, don't you think? Someone knows Drowning Pool here? Someone ever heard the song 'Bodies'?

Right, Default are becoming great in my opinion. Their music is like Nickelback's. And it's great. It's great that they're great. *weird said*

There are many 'types' of music. I don't know but, it seems there are not many people in here who listen to hard rock, pop, techno, metal, dance music, like me. People seems to be on one, and only one type, am I wrong? ok, I don't like R&B and hip hop. Not classical music either. I mostly listen to hard rock, but I wrote down some of my favorite songs for each different type of music I listen, can someone do that too?

By the way, what I call 'Type' of music, well... What is the real word???

rock - still Lady Madonna - Beatles
dance - dancing queen - ABBA
metal and rap you can just throw out...i'd rather eat bugs.
classical - Bethoven's 9th
swing - sing sing sing
soul - Let's Get it On - Marvin Gaye

ok, I modified the name of the topic to "Your favorte song of all times by genre". That's the way I wanted it at first.

Check JayDodo's post above. That's THE way I want it though it don't matter at all if you listen to only one genre of music and have only one favorite song.

There are so, so many like "Wild Horses", by The Stones (and not just cause he performs it so well..), or "I Can't Tell You Why", by The Eagles, but my favourite has to be "Behind Blue Eyes", by The Who. And, yes, maybe that was the first one I ever 'caught' him singin',mid performance! lol. [Smile] [Embarrassed] [Wink]

Definitely "Dust in the Wind" by America.

Another good one by them is "Ventura Highway" which is another of my top picks.

I'm sure I'll be back to this topic because it's hard to have only one favourite song. Some songs can bring back memories, songs can cheer you up when you're sad, some songs are good to listen to when you need to have a good cry.....it all depends on one's mood!

Fave song of all time is "The Bad Touch" by the Bloodhound Gang (The Discovery Channel song for those of you not in the know ;-).

By genre - oooooo blimey ;-)

This is too hard, I don't know how to categorise things like Pink Floyd and Bob Dylan. Here are some favourites:

Stones "Brown Sugar"
Dylan "Idiot Wind"
Pink Floyd "Time"
Carole King "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman"
Beatles "Sexy Sadie"
Four Seasons "December 63"
Bob Marley "Waiting in Vain"
