I don't know my favorite swing music or bands, but I love the stuff. Big band jazz is great.

I'm almost positive I can dance so long as I can see someone else doing it while I try.

I was watching an old couple swinging and it was really cool because they were playing old vinyls, reminiscing about old times and showing each other different steps between the two coasts, different neighborhoods in New York, and the difference in styles between upper and lower New York state. It would had been the perfect time to learn but when I was asked to join in I chickened out.

Anyhow, I still really believe I can do it. I mean, if sixty-somethings can, why can't I?

But then again, I do realize that once my chance comes up again, I'll probably trip myself and end up laying on the floor while the sixty-somethings are boogying around me-- but I can dream !

We have some fun dances today like the shake, but I don't think they are as fun as swinging would be. The only bad thing about swing is that unless I am really good or wearing a zoot suit, I'll look like a fool having a conniption fit dancing by myself.

swing does require a partner.
and while you can be taught it

the only way to go is just to do it.
preferably go dancing a lot.

I prefer Lindy Hop...it rules.

I love Benny Goodman !!!!! On the Nouveau Swing side, I like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Brian Setzer.

Sing, Sing, Sing is my absolute favorite.

gotta go with Cherry Poppin' Daddies and Royal Crown Revue.

Sinatra was far more mainstream, trendy, pop for his time.

yes, he did swing...but it was not the centerpiece of his act. in fact most of the songs he made famous were not swing.

Although he did get his start with the Tommy Dorsey Band.
