Hey, I'll use a smiley for this one. I finally put the sound and the face together here as my son kept on telling me "That's Pink, she's cool." Saw the video clip this morning on the kids' wakeup show here.
She's a riot!
Now I see why her impudent act is funny to kids. I mean, she doesn't take herself that seriously, makes a joke out of appearance, puts pins into a Barbie voodoo doll (that one had me on the floor laughing!) mocks the pants falling down look and all the stuff you have to do today to be cool, sniffs her armpits as she's getting ready to go out on the town, from a teen standpoint it's really refreshing to see someone who doesn't take herself so deadly serious!

The kids were kind of nervous when their father started muttering about how she looked like she'd gone through a haystack or something then when she said something rather, um, rude.

But has anyone else seen her clip?

Now her voice isn't anything to write home about but her stage persona is a riot.
Reminds me of Aqua and their Barbie song.

Eww… She’s nothing like Aqua.

Yeah, I've seen that video, it’s “Get the Party Started.” I like it but I like Pink’s latest single better than anything else I've heard from her. It is called, “Don’t Let Me Get Me.” The video is entertaining, but not quite as funny as her last single, but then again, I don’t think it was supposed to be.

Well I'll have LilSpikey berating me for my ignorance now, I just thought for once I finally hear someone everyone is interested in in the quizzes and she's not half bad!

Aqua was such a crackup though...

Yeah, well you're the Pink specialist!
Now I get that song on every day at about 8 in the car. I really like it!

Il faut etre patiente avec moi, je suis plus vieille!

I had to get used to it, and my son was the one who kept on saying "peenk" everytime she came onto the screen.
I couldn't see what the big deal was until I saw her act.

Haven't seen the one that Lanni mentioned.

Her voice isn't anything to write home about though.

By the way, I think Aqua are much better than Pink!

Heather, I sent you a private message too. Read the first one first. [Smile]

Hi everyone...had to use this smiley when I saw it!! I love Pink- I also respect her bravery in changing musical direction. Its so easy to rely on your old sound and never ecperirment. HEr first album is catchy and sing a long pop-RnB but check her second for real lyrical depth. lIke a less iritating Alanis!! Don't Let Me Get me is more typical of the album- if you buy it on the strength of Get the party started you'll be disappointed cos its the odd track out!!

i didn't really know about Pink until i saw a special on MTV: the making of her video 'Get the party started' and i really like her now: i hope i have the grammar right, Bruyere: elle me fait rire (she makes me laugh). she makes me laugh with her whacky sense of humour and i like that song a lot. i also saw a docu-day-in-the-life-of... and they filmed her playing for concert re: sept 11th and was really touched by her expressed sentiments.

Lanni i haven't heard the song u were talking about, but i'm sure i will soon.

i'm sure u were joking Bruyere, but i am a great believer that music isn't age-confined - u like what u like - i love Aqua, Britney, Kylie, Steps (when they were around) ABBA - but i also like lots of other types of music - quite eclectic really - i think u have also said that, Bruyere, in previous threads.

anyway, didn't mean to get all 'soap-box' ttfn

Yes, I'm eclectic in my tastes, I told my kids that shocking me would be harder than a normal parent!
Alanis, we were just listening to her on the way home on the radio (we were singing the party song as we're getting ready for one tomorrow!). I think she reminds me of a trend that Joni Mitchell started, and though I can understand what she's doing, I find her a pain, I mean she admits it, but I don't find it stimulating nor funny or anything.
Guess it's the roommate thing, if someone reminds me too much of a roommate from hell, like Phoebe on Friends, or Alanis, I can't quite appreciate them as much!

When I first heard Pink, I wasn’t really into it. They weren’t bad but were definitely overplayed. It was what I call “slumber party” music, sing-a-long material. However, her new sound is awesome and I don’t think I’ll tire of it anytime soon.

I like Alanis as well and she did the same type of thing, planting her roots with popish material and then branched out with lyrical depth. I haven’t really listened to her latest stuff though.

You guys can hear “Don’t Let Me Get Me”
here.
