Not everyone likes karaoke (especially if you can't sing:like ME!!) But since this IS the internet we can do karaoke without anyone hearing our voices break. Don't forget to mention the song and artist. Here goes:

"All the straight hair girls
They all want curls
and the brunettes wanna be blonde
It's your typical thing
you got yin,you want yang
it just goes on and on"
-'I Keep Looking'
Sara Evans

OK,it's someone else's turn. By the way, this is the result of boredom....

laugh Boredom sure can create some interesting posts!

I love singing karaoke. I'm an OK singer, but I have a very short range. I've never sang karaoke in front of an audience (although I had the opportunity to about seven years ago). I like to download instrumental versions of songs and sing them just for me.

My favourite right now is Rikki's "Suteki Da Ne". I don't have all the words memorised yet, but I can sing the first verse and the chorus without looking at the lyrics.

Does anybody here speak Japanese? I'd like to know if I'm spelling the lyrics correctly:

Kaze ga yoseta kotoba ni
Oyoi da kokoro
Kumo na hakobu ashita ni
Hazunda koe

Tsuki ga yureru kanami ni
Furueta kokoro
Hoshi ga nagare, koboreta
Yawarakai namida

Suteki da ne
Futari te o tori aruketa nara
Ikitai yo
Kimi no machi, ie, ude no naka

Sono mune
Karada azuke
Yoi ni magire
Yume miru

Kaze wa tomari; kotoba wa
Yasashii maboroshi
Kumo wa yabure; ashita wa
Tooku no koe

Tsuki ga nijimu kagami o
Nagareta kokoro
Hoshi ga yurete, koboreta
Kakusenai namida

Suteki da ne
Futari te o tori aruketa nara
Ikitai yo
Kimi no machi, ie, ude no naka

Sono kao
Sotto furete
Asa ni tokeru
Yume miru.

Sorry LadyC! No Japanese!
But in the spirit of the Karaoke thread...
I ONCE did do a number at the Mexican restaurant right next to the Howard Johnson's across the road from Disneyland, Anaheim! I'm sure everyone remembers my rendition of....

I heard he sang a good song...
I heard he had a style...
And so I came to hear him, and listen for awhile.

And there he was, this young boy..
A stranger to my eyes..

Killing me softly with HIS song KILLING ME SOFTLY..with his song...tellin' my whole life with his words...

Yup! I DID that thing!

I tried to do the Karaoke--which by the way in Japanese means "empty orchestra"--thing once. You see I play guitar and sing, and hence thought I would be able to do a half decent job of a song. I chose to do a Dwight Yokem song called 'Faster Than You', anyway, it DID NOT go well! I was all flustered and got the words mixed up, I don't know why. Stage fright? I don't know, cause like I said I don't usually have a problem singing in front of people(actually, i like it!)Needless to say I avoid it now at all costs---not good for my fragile ego!LOL But put a guitar in my hand and...

Oops forgot to continue the thread! Since no one can 'hear' me how about

" Honey I'll be fast as you,
maybe I'll break hearts, too.
I hope you just slow down
when your turn to hurt comes 'round..."

You guessed it, Dwight Yokem.

isn't it Dwight Yokam??
er.. must be a typo.

anyway...karaoke is fun.
I like to sing in Chinese.

zhuo shou shei ta
you shou shei ze ai
jin wo de suong shou mou hu de bei ai.

anyhoo, it's fun.
english is OK, but Chinese is better.

except for, like, musicals.

I could sing My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music and Les Mis for the rest of my life.

Funny I alwayse thought Karaoke was japanese for "Drunk with Microphone" but live and learn.

lord knows the few times I have done it I'd had more than a few of the beers that made Milwaukee
famous.

As for my singing lets just say I tend to stick to the fast paced songs, Charlie Daniels Band, Devil went down to Georgia, or Drinkin my baby goodbye
Commander Cody, Hot Rod Lincon. One week by Barenaked Ladies. Songs so fast that the crowd is shocked that you got all the words out they don't notice how badly off key you were [Big Grin] [Eek!] [Big Grin]

My kid is known for her performances either without the accompaniment or with it. She's done quite a few things on stage here in France mostly.
The ones that stuck out were the "Somewhere over the rainbow" at a very early age, I think she was four and the whole audience was spellbound.
Then she did the song from Pocahontas when she was nine...plus in English so they were impressed as they didn't know she was bilingual.

She did a mariah Carey song, and a celine Dion.

She recently did a Gospel one too.

I try not to give her any ideas yet...but she's been doing it for years now and all the adults are kind of jealous to be upstaged by a kid.

I think my singing isn't horrible...just tolerable!!~ Anyways LadyC, i know like a tiny bit of japanese, but my friend knows way more than i do. I know how to write katakana and kanji but i also have an online Japanese dictionary i use for all my translation needs. I never been to a karaoke place in public even though my friends always try to drag me there. But i did sing in front of my mandarin class by my self in chinese..which was very nerve racking i might add [Frown] .
I listen to a lotta Japanese songs especially any of my fav anime songs and i know almost all the lyrics from the songs of Neon Genesis EVangelion.
I'm going to be singing 'First Love' by Utada Hikaru who is one of the best JPop artists around!

Saigou no KISU wa
TABAKO no flavor ga ****a
NIGAkute setsunai kaori

A****a no imagoro ni wa
Anata wa doko ni iru n darou
Dare wo omotteru n darou

You are always gonna be my love
Itsuka dareka to mata koi ni ochitemo
I'll remember to love
You taught me how
You are always gonna be the one
Ima wa mada kanashii love song
Atarashi uta utaeru made

Tachidomaru jikan ga
Ugokidasou to ****eru
Wasuretakunai koto bakari

A****a no imagoro ni wa
Watashi wa kitto naiteru
Anata wo omotteru n darou

You will always be inside my heart
Itsumo anata dake no basho ga aru kara
I hope that I have a place in your heart too
Now and forever you are still the one
Ima wa mada kanashii love song
Atarashii uta utaeru made

You are always gonna be my love
Itsuka dareka to mata koi ni ochitemo
I'll remember to love
You taught me how
You are always gonna be the one
Mada kanashii love song
Now & forever...

'In your life
You seem to have it all
You seem to have control
But deep within your soul
You're losing it
You never took the time
Assume that you're to blame
You think that you're insane
Won't you spare me?

I know the breakdown
Everything is gonna shake now, someday
I know the breakdown
Tell me again, am I awake now, maybe
You can't find the reason that
No one else is living this way...'

'Breakdown' by Tantric, one of my favorite songs of all times.

I'm signing Silli Lily, I'm signing!

'ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhooooooooo
You wanna see the light
For reasons you won't trade
Complaints will carry on

ooooooooooohhhhhhhooooooo
And face the coming match
A flashback of your own crash
Now is this what you are, are, are, are, are, are, are, are

Celebrate the feeling
Someone said she's breathing
Must be ready to dig in
Feed the ground with dusty lies
Celebrate the living
Holy flag she's hiding
Always pretty dressed with fiends
Dagger's in when she goes south

Celebrate the feeling
Celebrate the living
Celebrate the meaning
Celebrate the calling
Celebrate the death row
Celebrate the sorrow
Celebrate the bomb blow
And your dreadful loco
Save inmate behavior
And religious savior
Just a taste of anger
Save the children, lovers'

The song 'Celebrate' by the band 'Curl'. This is a party song! (in my opinion)
Oh, I love signing this song LOUD!

Les Mis, Lord Andry?

anyway, I have no idea what time it is where everyone else is, but it's morning here, so:

Nothing to do to save his life call his wife in
Nothing to say but what a day, how's your boy been?
Nothing to do it's up to you,
I've got nothing to say but it's OK
Good morning, good morning

Going to work don't want to go feeling low down
Heading for home you start to roam then you're in town
Everybody knows there's nothing doing
Everything is closed it's like a ruin
Everyone you see is half asleep
And you're on your own, you're in the street

After a while you start to smile, now you feel cool
Then you decide to take a walk by the old school
Nothing has changed, it's still the same
I've got nothing to say but it's OK.
Good morning, good morning

People runing round it's five o'clock,
Everywhere in town it's getting dark,
Everyone you see is full of life,
It's time fot tea and meet the wife

Somebody needs to know the time, glad that I'm here
Watching the skirts you start to flirt now you're in gear
Go to a show you hope she goes
I've got nothing to say, but it's OK
Good morning, good morning...

Good Morning, Good Morning - The Beatles [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

When mornin' comes to Morgan town
The people roll their awnings down.
The milk trucks make their morning rounds
in mornin' Morgan town!

Mornin' Morgan town
Buy your dreams a dollar down.
Mornin' any time of day...
Morgan's still the same.... [Smile]

*another morning song!* just for Tanzen...though it's probably lunch time now! Joni Mitchell

Fire up the motor, baby,I'm already packed
I'll ride shotgun, navigate.
Throw the cooler in the back
Let's try and get us lost
Anywhere you wanna gooooo
C'mon show me the other side
Of that great unknown
Well I've never rocked the Rockies
Never sinned in Santa Fe
I wanna stand on the corner of Winlsow,Arizona
Some day and take it easy
Drive me down a desert road
C'mon show me the other side
Of that great unknown

'Cause I'm tired of being careful
I'm sicking of staying home
I just wanna see a little of that great unknown
Take a right,take a left
I don't really care
It doesn't matter where we end up,baby
I can love you anywhere
I will be a waitress
You could work on cars
Find ourselves a KOA
and sleep underneath the stars
just a-living and a-loving
Baby,don't say no
C'mon show me the other side
of that great unknown

'Hope unknown
Sometimes just waking is surreal
I walk right through the nameless ones
I know that hope's unknown
Sometimes the water feels so real
As I walk through, it feels my lungs, my God, I'm drowning

This day never seems to end
This pain, never
The rage I can not let go!
I hear them calling
I feel tham gnawing out holes through flawless souls...'

Silly Lily, that's really a wonderful idea you had to create a Karaoke topic! I can now sing without anybody hearing me! (so I don't hear anybody complain [Embarrassed] )
Would you believe me if I told you that I'm REALLY signing while writing the lyrics?!
