"I remember that time you told me, You said love is touching souls, surely you touched mine, Cos part of you pours out of me In these lines from time to time."
Joni Mitchell "A Case of You"
"Skin can feel my lips they tingle Tense anticipation, This one is an easy one, feel the word and melt upon it, Words of love and words so leisured, Words are poisoned darts of pleasure"
Franz Ferdinand "Darts of Pleasure" too sensual for words
And all of "Can't Stand Me Now" by the Libertines...a break up song indeed to rend your heart in two.

This old Judy Collins song means a lot to me and I'm so affected by it that I seldom listen to it any more, since it colors the rest of my day. ...When the winter finds you, you fly to where it's summer Rooms that face the ocean, moonlight on your bed Mermaids swift as dolphins paint the air with diamonds You are like a seagull as you sail
Why do you fly bright feathered sometimes in my dreams? The shadows of your wings fall over my face I can feel no air, I can find no peace Brides in black ribbons, witches in white Fly in through the windows, fly out through the night...
Why do I think I'm dying sometimes in my dreams? I see myself a child running thru the trees Searching for myself, looking for my life Looking everywhere crawling on my knees I cannot see the leaves, I cannot see the light
Then I see you walking just beyond the forest Walking very quickly, walking by yourself Your shoes are silver, your coat is made of velvet Your eyes are shining, your voice is sweet and clear "Come on" you say "come with me, I'm going to the castle"
All the bells are ringing, the weddings have begun But I can only stand here-I cannot move to follow I'm burning in the shadows -and freezing in the sun
There are people with you living in your houses People from your childhood who remember how you were You were always flying, nightengale of sorrow Singing bird with rainbows on your wings...

This one is more weird than anything else. But let's go with it anyway.
"Wring out my guilt and hang it on the line, it's been raining all week so it won't get a chance to dry. Looking in the pantry for a box of sorries, but I'm all run out. I've been locking all my doors and closing all my blinds, but it seems to find it's way back inside. If I could sweep it out the door, then it would be the end, but the wind keeps blowing it in again" - Bic Runga - "Sorry"

I Have several. Here are two:
Yesterday, when I was young, So many happy songs were waiting to be sung, So many wild pleasures lay in store for me, And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see Yesterday When I Was Young - Roy Clark
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above Out where the lightning splits the sea I would swear that there's someone somewhere Watching me Holding Out For A Hero - Bonnie Tyler

When the wind blows down this hard, Many a bond is broken. See the water lie on the ground From where the heavens opened.
Lord, how will you get through this night With your dreams departed? And who alone will comfort you? Only the broken hearted.
So you've gone beyond your means, Every wound is open, Your best laid plans are out of reach, And all your fears unspoken.
Chorus
Sweet revenge is spoken then; In the twilight it is gone. To living lies with no escape, Lord, I would rather be alone.
I press my fingers to the wood To tell you of my dreaming, To sing you songs from olden times, To keep the love light gleaming.
'Cause there's a place where we can go, Where we will not be parted. And who alone will enter there? Only the broken hearted.
Only the broken, broken hearted. Only the broken, broken hearted. Only the broken, broken hearted. Only the broken, broken hearted.
My other favourite Eric clapton song.

Here's one which I haven't been able tog et out of my head since I bought the album the other day. It sounds basic, but the song is a masterpiece.
Isobel - Björk
In a forest pitch dark Glowed the tiniest spark It burst into a flame Like me Like me
My name, Isobel Married to myself My love, Isobel Living by herself
In a heart full of dust Lives a creature called lust It surprises and scares Like me Like me
My name, Isobel Married to myself My love, Isobel Living by herself
When she does it she means to Moth delivers her message Unexplained on your collar Crawling in silence A simple excuse
Na na na nana Na na na nana
It a towel of steel Mature forges a deal To raise wonderful hell Like me Like me
My name, Isobel Married to myself My love, Isobel Living by herself
When she does it she means to Moth delivers her message Unexplained on your collar Crawling in silence A simple excuse
Na na na nana Na na na nana Na na na nana Na na na nana

One of my recent favourites is from the Tim McGraw song 'Live Like You Were Dyin'. The line is;
'I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Manchu'.
The reason that I like it is that 2.7 seconds isn't enough to qualify but it shows that win, lose or draw, he had the guts to give it a try.
Another line that I love is from a Blues Brothers album and they were covering someone elses version. The line;
'The way she did what she did, when she did what she did to me, made me think of you, Ya baby, made me think of you.'
It seems so honest, sincere and heartfelt.

Take this soul, stranded in some skin and bones; take this soul and make it sing
- U2, Yahweh, which feels to me like a prayer
I had a smile stretch from ear to ear to see you walking down the road
- Sarah McLachlan, I Love You, which makes me think every time of my very own Very Nice Young Man

'Life's short and hard like a bodybuilding elf' from Bloodhound Gang's 'Lift Your Head Up High And Blow Your Brains Out'. It may be in remarkably poor taste, but I like it nevertheless.

"I woke up with a start, Rubbed my eyes from dreaming, Turned around, looked at you, and the tears they start streaming. I touch you, you touch me. Our love has no meaning. Trying hard to understand, but my mind is screaming and, (I don't love you anymore), don't love you anymore baby" "Don't Love You Anymore" The Reels and "Forever Now" originally by Chisel, but The Reels did a beautiful cover of this song. (Not so loud as Barnsie)
"Taking her seat at the bar She don't talk to anyone Plane leaving soon for afar Where she don't know anyone She thinks of her precious time There's no-one she leaves behind Who could change her mind
Is this the way it's gonna be forever Is this the way it's gonna be forever Is this the way it's gonna be Forever now
Take a whole life's lonliness Wrap it up in some tenderness Send it off to some emptiness With all my love Cos it's only you and me There'll be nothing we need to see Only one thing can set you free Is all my love
Making his way down the stairs He can't help but looking back Thinks of the things that they shared There'll be no more turning back He thinks of the day they met The words that she said of love He just can't forget
Just the way they wanna be forever Just the way they wanna be forever Tell me it will always be Forever now
Take a whole life's lonliness Wrap it up in some tenderness Send it off to some emptiness With all my love It's only you and me There'll be nothing we need to see Only one thing can set you free Is all my love It's only you and me There'll be nothing we need to see Only one thing can set you free Is all our love, oh yeah

Remember this one?
A SIMPLE MAN (Lobo)
...These are the things that bother me, Not a lot of things across some sea, I don't even have a master plan, I guess that I am just a simple man...
