Well, this may not be my favorite, but is one of my favorites.
"Well I can't really believe No one was sent to get me And I feel like I'm being erased No one got left here"
This is from Cold's song "No one", I find this one very beautiful...

And as we wind on down the road Our shadows taller than our souls There walks a lady we all know Who shines white light and wants to show How everything still turns to gold And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last To be a rock and not to roll

Well, Tom! Hope you're feeling ok, you never grace this section with your presence! We have a breakup song thread here, I'll see if I can find it. We had some really good ones!
I can't think of any one line that seems more profound than another, just like I could never choose an instrument I liked more except I wasn't into brass or percussion that much, story of my life I suppose.
Simon and Garfunkel speak to my heart. Just heard "Slip Slidin' away" in the grocery store line yesterday.

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way The time is gone the song is over, thought I'd something more to say.
Classic lines from the Track "Time" on Pink Floyd's Dark side of the moon.

This one is a bit long.. "Well I drempt I saw you walking up a hillside in the snow. Casting shadows on the winter sky as you stood there counting crows. One for sorrow, two for joy, three for girls and four for boys, five for silver, six for gold, seven for a secret never to be told. There's a bird that rests inside you, sleeping underneath your skin. When you open up your wings to speak, I wish you'd let me in." "A Murder of One" Counting Crows. Told ya it was long ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)

"the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time, any fool can do it, there aint nothing to it. No one knows how we got to the top of the hill. But since we're on our way down, we might as well enjoy the ride. The secret of love is in opening up your heart. It's ok to feel afraid, but don't let it stand in your way no, cause everyone knows that love is the only road."

Our time is done, my love, We've laid it all to waste, One thousand moonlit kisses, Can't Sweeten this bitter taste, My desire for you is endless, And I'll love you 'til we fall, I just don't want you no more, And that's the sweetest embrace of all.

There is a line in the Pearl Jam song "Black" from the album TEN, that is very sad and beautiful.......
"...I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star...in somebody else's sky, but why, why can't it be, why can't it be mine?..."
It is a constant reminder to me of the past, and a long lost love - I feel as if I could have written that lyric myself.......

My favourite song of all time (apart from the one my dad wrote for me when I was younger) has got to be "Flying Without Wings" by Westlife. It's about the moment when you look around, and realise how happy you ar made by certain things in your life. To me, it carries the message that we shouldn't take things for granted and always value everything that gives us happiness. It's beautiful and always makes me cry. I can't just pick out one line, so I'll post the whole song (I hope I don't compromise any copyright laws!!!!)
FLYING WITHOUT WINGS Everybody's looking for that something Something that makes their life complete You find it in the strangest places Places you never thought it could be Some find it in the face of their children Some find it in their lover's eyes Who can deny the joy it brings When you've found that special thing You're flying without wings
Some find it sharing every morning Some in their solitary lives You find it in the works of others A simple line can make you laugh or cry You find it in the deepest friendships The kind you cherish all your life And when you know how much that means You've found that special thing You're flying without wings
So impossible as it may seem You've got to fight for every dream Cos who'se to know Which one you let go Would have made you complete
Well for me it's waking up beside you To watch the sun rise on your face To know that I can say "I love you" In any given time or place It's little things that only I know Those are the things that make you mine And it's like flying without wings Cos you're my special thing I'm flying without wings
And you're the place my life begins And you'll be where it ends I'm flying without wings And that's the joy you bring I'm flying without wings

A bit short this one. It comes from a John Denver song. The title escapes me but I always thought the phrase in the song was clever, so it stuck with me. It was, 'You just sorta...stomped on my Aorta'

I hope I won't be seen as being greedy here, but my most favourite song in the world ever is Child Psychology by Blackboxrecorder. Its also where my signature comes from... If I may be permitted to quote them lyrics wholesale (well, as they sound like to me anyway):
I stopped talking when I was five years old I didn't want anything to do with the outside world I was happy being quiet, but of course they wouldn't leave me alone My parents tried every trick in the book From speech therapists to child psychologists I could have anything if only I asked for it out loud Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it
But of course this episode couldn't last forever I'd made my point and it was time to move on Time to peel back the next layer of deceit My school reports read that I showed no interest A disruptive influence: I felt sorry for them in a way But when they finally expelled me it didn't mean a thing Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it
The November day I came home the Christmas decorations were already up Spray on snow, flashing lights and an artificial tree Which played Silent Night over and over again My parents welcomed me with loving arms But pretty soon they were back at each others throats Normal happy childhood resumed Batteries not included Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it Life is unfair, kill yourself or get over it

"And I need you more than want you and I want you for all time"
From Witchita Lineman by Glen Campbell
I also love the bit in the song where it sounds like morse code - de de de dedededede etc.
Just lovely.

"You fill up my senses, like a light in a forest, like The mountains in Springtime, like a walk in the rain, like a Sorm in the desert, like a Sleepy blue ocean, Come let me love you, come fill me again....Let me lay down beside you Let me always be with you. Come let me love you--Come fill me again." "Annie's Song", John Denver I wish I could have written it for my husband. ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)

This song was written by my dear friend Jason. He was in a local band in the Pittsburgh area, so you guys have probably never heard the song. It's called "Wings of Wax" and it's one of my favorite songs: Torn tickets in a scrapbook. Torn Lives still breathing. Do you remember how sacred all the first times you have know. Familiar as April. Sometimes something so simple. And all cannot be forgiven or forgotten though never shown. Now you're paying your tax. Wings made of wax. Flying just a little to close to the sun. You're melting away, a tired actor in a play. Only yesterday when you were young. 'Though your spring may echo laughter. Neil Young still searchin' for that heart of gold. But in that mine there is an ending and a lifetime to begin. I drink to mysteries unanswered. I drink to all the dead still living and all the ghosts of Pennsylvania who've seen it all before, but couldn't win. Now you're paying your tax. Wings made of wax, flying just a little too close to the sun. You're melting away. Tired actor in a play. Only yesterday when you were young. This song is really special to me. It reminds me of the feeling I get sometimes when I think I've thrown it all away. It is intensely personal, but I thought I'd share it here. ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)

I've got so many fav lines in songs that I could spend all day mentioning them all. My fav at the moment though is the song "Machine Ballerina" by Suzanne Vega. It's just full of great lines.
Am I an afternoon's pastime? a thing on a string to be thrown and retrieved like a phone call received on somebody's birthday to tease and delight and then say goodnight and then just say goodbye?
Am I a toy on a tray ? a soft piece of clay queen or clown for the day machine ballerina soldier of tin standing so loyal while you sit so royal then I'm put away?
Ch: For your approval, perusal, and your possible refusal, I'm amusing, I'm a puppet for your play.
Am I your Mad Magazine? skin trampoline pin-up pinball machine your fantasy girl of puzzling parts but none fits or starts we match wits but not hearts I'm heard but never seen?
Chorus again
Another fav is my signature below which is from "Dumb" by Nirvana
