Girls, did you propose to anyone today? The only reasonable guy around here is my minibus driver. I meant to ask him this a.m, but forgot. How about you? Any result?

Then he has to give you a gift. But only if you are wearing a red petticote which is showing.(That's if you are Scottish)

That's just extortion! You mean ladies can go around proposing to any and every male, and expect a gift if they are turned down? Or can men expect a similar gift the other 365 days of the year?

Of course, the cynic in me would say that a rejection was the best gift a man could hope for.

I often wondered why February only had 28 or 29 days, as opposed to all other months having 30 or 31; apparently it was all due to the ego of the Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus. Under Julius Caesar, February originally had 30 days, but when Caesar Augustus was emperor he was annoyed that his month (August) only had 29 days, whilst the month named after Julius, his predecessor (July), had 31. So he nicked a couple of days for August from February to make it the same as July.

I always understood that the man had to buy silk gloves as a gift - not heard about red petticoats. I suspect that you made that up as you are a hussy. smile

I stand corrected, I have now seen that in Scotland there was mention of a red petticoat to warn the man of what was about to happen, so he could run!

Em....at 5 a.m. today the waitress at the diner asked me to marry her, I know she's got a beau who adores her, had no idea this was a leap year "tradition"!
Pretty much left me speechless but gave the regulars a laugh.

Two articles about this today. In Adelaide a woman rang her boyfriend who was a DJ and on air proposed to him. He said No. People who are on a fixed salary are complaining they are working an extra day for nothing.

Well she would be if she wasn't so old, she is a bit past it now. smile

What a pity it isn't 29th today, I have men swarming over my property, erecting scaffolding. So much more choice.

As for working for nothing, perhaps it could be turned around and said that for three out of four years they are getting paid an extra day which they haven't been working!
