One of the joys of springtime in my part of Australia. Of course we're now entering autumn/fall so these guys are far less active. It's a copperhead snake photographed from a safe distance(!) while we were walking on Phillip Island (at The Nobbies). And yes, they are venomous :-)

I headed towards the Kent border today to mop up the final four old road direction signs in London, and here is one of my favourites, the yellow map, which are now the rarest as more were on major roads and went before the blue local signs we have many more of (I got one today as well).

I didn't know that copperheads were in Australia as well as in the USA. (And now I see that Wiki tells me of at least four different kinds of snake all called copperhead, all but one venomous)
