Spring has sprung in my garden

Szabs - abolutely love those photos. They look like a sort of medieval religious painting.

Not often I see one of these, and I got to drive it this evening.

I'm really enjoying everyone's photos, but think szabs' contributions, with additional info, on Easter in Malaga have been special.

Thank you all for your kind words, my favourite time to take pictures is Easter because you can get some incredible shots. The hazy aura the pictures have is mainly due to the street lighting at the time. When I took those two pictures I didnt realize what they would look like till I enlarged them in my computer.

Although this is not a particularly good picture, it is taken from a balcony and you can see how many men are carrying this throne with one of the Virgins. You can also see there are chairs, these are rented out by the town hall and the Brotherhoods for the whole week, they are very hard to get and are quite expensive! The city centre of Malaga completely closes down for the Holy week, as all these processions take place on the main streets of the city.

Do I guess right that children try to build the biggest ball of wax they can from the penitents' candles? Looks like that child's got quite a good sized one going.

This is not one of my best photographs. This isn't even the photograph I went to take but Easter Sunday in the middle of England was overcast at best and wet at worst - and wet is not good for cameras. Nothing daunted I drove across the county to see if the weather was better twenty miles south of here, only it wasn't much. I wanted to take a picture of the front of this house but you have to pay to get into the grounds and it was over £8! I'm sorry y'all but I declined to cough up as I've been there, seen that, and didn't want to pay to get one picture. So I took a photo of a wing at the back of the house and hope that you will all accept that much, especially you Americans for whom I drove through constant drizzle in the first place. This is the rear of Sulgrave Manor. And why should that appeal to the Americans? Well, Sulgrave Manor was the home of a man called Lawrence, whose great-great-great-great-great-grandson was called George. This is the home of the Washingtons.

The house is now run by a trust, and is dedicated in perpetuity to the peoples of both the United Kingdom and of the United States. Sulgrave is one of the few places in the UK where the Union Flag and the Stars & Stripes fly side by side, day in day out. Only you can't see the flags, they're at the front.

I just wanted to say "Happy Easter!"

Oh Flopsy how great is that! I love looking round houses when I come back, and gardens too, of course. Is it inhabited? National Trust?

It's not National Trust, Ren, it is run by a private trust that was set up to mark the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Ghent, celebrating peace between the UK and USA. I don't think anyone lives there, none of the Washingtons anyway - but some of them are buried in the village church.

Definitely worth a visit, I reckon, next time I come over.Thanks

I have no idea how the system works

I presume electric cars plug into them, but I have no idea what the drivers do for the 4-20 hours it takes (depending on the model) while they're off the road. Maybe a question I need to ask directly but if anyone knows I have mentioned it here now.

If you haven't seen the centre of Orpington this is what it looks like.

Electric cars. The public charge points tend to charge at a higher rate than a domestic power point so charging up doesn't take as long. Whilst some are free most electric vehicle owners get memberhip to a "network" which, for an annual charge, gives them things like free parking, free charging leads, some emergency back-up, but they do still pay for the electricity they use. At the moment these network points are still mainly in London.

How does a goat get from one field to another - via the goat bridge of course. No trolls under this one though.

It's on a local rare breeds farm which is open to the public. The bridge goes over a narrow road used by both the farmer and members of the public and goats are in the fields either side of it. To let them cross from one to the other without closing off the road he built the bridge, so they can come and go from field to field as they pleae.
