Most readers would halt their question reading assimilation right there wondering, "Who says he's mighty?"
How can you presume to know what 'most readers' would do?

We do not mean to blasphemme by criticizing your actions and we are aware that you each have individual powers to weild as different from each other as top and bottom. We pray you understand that we have only wondered at the fading distinctions between Quizzicals and Singlecals. The High Priests of Quizzes feel threatened by the Vestial Nuns of the Single Profer and we mere mortals hope there remains a difference 'tween the two. We continue to live in amazement at all that you perform. (as an aside, can we have this goat to eat? It seems a shame to let it rot like all the others we've offered.) Accolades, you may now draw the curtain to cover the shiny, omega-labeled structure which represents all that are in the silver-lined heaven of mushroom clouds. As I said in my note to you, we will just have to agree to disagree on this. I guess you feel I'm groveling when I express my appreciation for the editors and how they respect quiz writers' styles. I'm not, just as I wasn't cutting them down for the changes they make. I applaud your looking at your own questions and quizzes and holding yourself to your own high "no-opinions-allowed" standards. I do not want to be held to that style of writing myself, however, because I don't share your view that the inclusion of such information creates problematic questions. To each his or her own style, all within the guidelines of FunTrivia.

I believe you correctly showed appreciation to the editors for their work. My postings are not meant to be manifestos against editor authority in any way nor an effort to restrict author creativity. I hoped that a few of the extremely fluffy questions that seemed to get through lately needed to be brought to their attention as possibly being more quizzy than quentiony.
PS: I'll save some goat bones for your beagles, okay?

True, the question examples given on the question creation page aren't examples of adding 'opinion' to questions, by quoting them and the text that went with them, I was more addressing your point in your initial post where you said that creativity is for quizzes and single questions should be brief and concise. The question creation page absolutely encourages asking in creative ways with other *stuff* added to the question.

While opinion is allowed, what about being downright insulting?
I recently took a quiz in which the Rays' Tropicana Field was called "a monstrosity". Having been to hundreds of games there, I love the place.
P.S. Getting back to the original post ... while an author has the right to not capitalize not, I always interpret that as being a jerk and also have the right to give it an automatic POOR rating.

I have had at least one quiz where I wrote it as NOT and it became just an ordinary not in the finished product (And I cannot for the life of me remember which quiz or which category or which editor it was, just that it happened). I tend to always put it as NOT, and have had a couple changed to *not* too - there has only ever been the one where it wasn't emphasised at all that I remember - that's why it stuck in my mind I think. I must say I prefer a NOT, even when I'm playing the quiz untimed, as a whole quiz, just because it makes me take note and saves me kicking myself afterwards if I've missed it

My personal preference for the highlight is the *not* (coming from an old e-mail / Usenet convention indicating bold font), but I do NOT want to start a minority opposition faction. It's become the way quiz players expect it to be marked when it is used to indicate a "3 true and 1 false statement" answer set and anything else would just cause people to perform worse, so I made it a habit to both write and edit with this formatting. Ultimately, consistency and play efficiency are the most important aspects of question and answer formatting.

Hmmm, it's been about 2 days and no editor has answered the question as to whether this is acceptable behavior. My instincts tell me it's not, but surprisingly I couldn't find it addressed in the guidelines and at least one Sports editor already believes that it is absolutely acceptable. I just wanted some clarification before I submit the following: Question removed to avoid funtrivia being sued. sue943
