Lonnie Donegan Well well!
My daughter who was learning to read, happened to pass a poster advertising his latest concert (yes we do go back a bit too!) and said:
"That concert with Lone Dungeon should be good."
He has never been called anything else in our family!

They asked this on the radio a while ago for female singers, and after working through them all got Judith Durham of The Seekers (still together after over 50 years).

Male I had to think about, Cliff Richard and the Rossi/Parfitt duo of Status Quo going by my favourite records.

Working in the family music shop our manager (or my grandpa depending who got there first) used to alert us behind the counter whenever anyone important walked in, and just before I served him (probably with guitar strings, which was our normal sale generally) the manager rushed behind the counter to tell me the man I was about to serve was Lonnie Donegan.

I could write a long list but will only add one I picked up on my own, Jeremy Taylor who switched between South Africa and Britain (he was on That's Life in the 70s), who got the Number one Ag Pleez Deddy in 1961 and I told him how much I liked it. He was a friend of my grandpa's (they all worked together at some point, he was a guitarist for over 70 years), and have exchanged music by post with him since.

Okay, I'm only being semi-serious here when I say Victor Wichniakov. The first part of this clip is of a chorus, but then Wichniakov gets a solo part. This is very short, so check it out:

A couple of years ago, an Elton John song came on the radio, and the young bloke at work flippantly said, "Here's your favourite singer". I'd never really thought about the topic before, but I reckon that he may not be too far from the truth.

Elton John's a great musician and he performed loads of fab songs!

I really couldn't pick a favourite, I like a wide range of music styles and have favourites among them all. Some I like for their voice, others for their lyrics and others just because something weird appeals to me. I could lose the run of myself in the "random songs" thread, but I'm trying to keep it to one or two a day.
