Why would you delete an entire quiz? If you have received a correction notice on one point, you need to correct that issue. Of course there is no harm in checking the rest of your quiz as well.

Hi, Why don't you keep the template, delete the writing in it, and use the template for a later quiz? Even if you won't write another, there's no harm in keeping a blank template. I think that you need to have authored a certain number of quizzes before you get the ability to delete a quiz, too. I'm not sure, and someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to tell you for sure. Good luck with your new quiz! With Sue helping you, you can't go wrong.

If the badgelet requires one to accept a quiz title from another author, (author challenge) then you can't have an unfinished quiz in your file. It needs to be finished or deleted. I think that's why joecali is asking to delete it. I don't get it. He said nothing about a badgelet, first of all. Second, that is true only if the existing quiz is an author's challenge title, in which case it can be abandoned. No need to finish or delete it.

I don't understand either. If you created a quiz two years ago and it's online, then you can't delete it. The part I don't understand is how the existence of a two year old quiz will stop you from getting a badgelet.

..... I want write a quiz with a challenge to obtain a badgelet.
http://www.funtrivia.com/challenges.cfm2nd last challenge in the Topaz Hall: An Author Challenge Mini Challenge
Reward for completion: Mini Badge + 250 pts. Requirements:
Awarded to a player who authors a player's challenge quiz. Just my guesstimate. Second, that is true only if the existing quiz is an author's challenge title, in which case it can be abandoned. No need to finish or delete it. If you have any outstanding/unfinished/unsubmitted quiz, it doesn't allow you to accept a challenge.

If you have any outstanding/unfinished/unsubmitted quiz, it doesn't allow you to accept a challenge. Uh, completely untrue. I've done it before with plenty of half-empty templates. Unless by "quiz" you mean a quiz that is an author's challenge title.

Not all authors can have more than one active template. When you're in author central, it tells you at the top of the screen what you're entitled to. For most people, it says you can have up to 10 active templates with one submitted for editing at any time. For others, it can be more or less based on experience and track record.

But how can he have a track record when he hasn't written a single quiz?

I guess a novice has to earn his/her stripes before privileges such as deleting are allowed. With no quizzes online, if I try to delete the one I'm working on it says: Only our more experienced quiz authors may delete quizzes. If I try to accept an author challenge it tells me I have an unfinished quiz and to finish that one first. So... mariamir, it's really not completely untrue. It happened to me. What I am saying is that it's impossible to accept an author's challenge (title from another author for a badgelet) if you have an unwritten quiz (not necessarily from a challenge) hanging around in your files. And I am guessing that may be joe's query.

And, I don't know if this is for everyone, or just some, but it will also not let you accept another challenge title if you already have one reserved.

Authors without a quiz online cannot delete their own quizzes. We have seen too many new authors delete their works, sometimes even quite good ones that were almost ready to go online, instead of making the corrections requested by their editors.
If you are a first-time author and want your quiz deleted, make the appropriate request to the editor who has last dealt with it. Don't forget to tell him or her what you wish to write instead - we strongly prefer that you do finish a work you began, but if your new idea seems to have a better chance to make it than the first one (because it's easier or you're more familiar with the topic), the editor will usually grant your delete request. However if the request is declined, please accept that as well - a declined deletion request usually means that your quiz can be made ready for publication with less effort than you think and then you have a finished quiz and the chance to make a new one!
If you have never submitted your quiz for editing, you can simply load the template, clear the contents, put in the new title, move it to the new category (you may have to do this in separate steps, first moving to a root category and then save and move to the subcategory after a reload) and begin writing your new quiz!

Wes, will that work, with a challenge? Doesn't the challenge quiz have to be created from the challenge page? Right, this is a special case. If you have an unsubmitted quiz and want to start an author challenge, you must go through an editor to get a delete. (I thought that you needed one quiz online before you could take a challenge... obviously that either changed or I misremembered!)
