Frankly I find Nostradamus' predictions as translated from his quatrains confusing, vague and subject to multiple interpretation. Others, however, seem specific when, for example, he mentions names, dates and historical events. I've listed here those quatrains that seem to have occurred:
Henry II's Death
"The young lion will overcome the older one,
On the field of combat in a single battle;
He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage,
Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death." (Century 1, Quatrain 35)
The year was 1559. Nostradamus' predictions were ignored by Henry II, and the latter took part in a jousting tournament against Comte de Montgomery (six years younger than Henry II). Both of them had shields which was embossed with the lion. During the final fight, Montgomery's lance, which he failed to lower at the right time, shattered. A piece of it went through the King's gilded visor (Golden cage), which resulted in two wounds, as per Nostradamus' predictions; one spliced his eye, while the other pierced his temple, just behind his eye. His brain was penetrated by both the splinters. For 10 days, the King underwent intolerable pain, and then died a cruel death. So, one of the great seer's predictions comes true.
The French Revolution
"From the enslaved people, songs, chants and demands,
The princes and lords are held captive in prisons:
In the future by such headless idiots
These will be taken as divine utterances."
"Before the war comes,
The great wall will fall,
The King will be executed, his death coming too soon will be lamented.
(The guards) will swim in blood,
Near the River Seine the soil will be bloodied."
July 14th, 1789. The symbol to the detested monarchy, the prison of Bastille, was stormed by the French people. The Storming of Bastille, marked the beginning of the French Revolution. The revolution started the rise and fall of the guillotine, which was located on the banks of River Seine. Thus, Nostradamus' prediction that 'the guards will swim in blood...will be bloodied', came true. The French Revolution only made Nostradamus' name as a seer, even more popular. He had predicted the French Revolution 200 years before it actually occurred.
The Kennedy Brothers Assassinations
"The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt,
An evil deed foretold by the bearer of a petition.
Another falls at nighttime.
Conflict at Reins, London and a pestilence in Tuscany." (Century 1, Quatrain 27)
In the year 1963, U.S. President, John. F. Kennedy was shot down by the thunderbolt (gunshot) at 12 noon. Lee Harvey Oswald had been soliciting signatures on a petition protesting the US treatment of Cuba. His brother Robert Kennedy was shot at 1 am in the morning after 5 years (another falls at nighttime). In the same year of 1963, students rioted in the cities of London and Paris, and there was a huge flood in Florence in 1968, which led to fear of plague or pestilence in the city.
