Would be nice if I could hold on for 3rd (bronze?), and I've decided not to tally the part 3 points, so I don't spoil the anticipation!

Great write-ups so far

  • The photo-finish camera was required to separate the top three, with N-Bomb winning by 1/100th of a second. He and Sypher tied on 113 points, but the Kiwi's prediction of the GB gold medal haul carried him through. He tipped 27, and Sypher picked 23. The Brits won 29!
  • Howie72 was only a single point away in the bronze medal position.
  • In the sailing, Dutchman van Rijsselberge sailed away from the Briton, Dempsey. The Pole in third, Miarczynski was tipped by only two players.
  • Football (soccer) was won by Mexico, who defeated Brazil. South Korea slotted into bronze.
  • In the splash and dash woman's kayak, New Zealand's carrington edged out a couple of hyphenated names. Ospenko-Rodamskai (Ukr) and Douchev-Janic from Hungary were second and third.
  • One of the toughest events in the Games is the decathlon; ten different disciplines are contested. The Americans quinellaed the event this time with Eaton and Hardee pipping the Cuban, Suarez.
  • The final event was really a battle for the minor medals. The all-conquering Dream Team won every game comfortably and relegated Spain to silver. The Russians were third.
  • Congratulations to N-Bomb and to Sypher and Howie72. Let the band strike up with 'God Defend New Zealand'.
  • See you all in Rio in 2016!

Nice work N-Bomb, Sypher and Howie, a really close finish and some superb tipping.

I'd have sat in 4th if I could have got my first round tips in time, just a shame we have to wait 4 years to do this again!

Well done to ozzz2002 for running the comp and taking the time to collate all the scores, Super effort, thanks!

I have to ask but from the table of scoring for the final round...where does N-bomb make 7 extra points when compared to my picks?
