Agree it's a bit strange.
The ones I would put on my list are “Meatloaf-I'll Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That),” “Michael Bolton-How Can We Be Lovers,” “Mariah Carey-Hero,” “Bryan Adams-(Everything I Do) I Do It For You,” “Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men-One Sweet Day,” “Donna Lewis-I Love You Always Forever,” “Christina Aguilera-Genie In A Bottle,” “Whitney Houston-I Will Always Love You,” “Celine Dion-Because You Loved Me,” “Michael Bolton-When A Man Loves A Woman,” “Bryan Adams-Please Forgive Me,” “Mariah Carey-Always Be My Baby,” “Backstreet Boys-Quit Playing Games (With My Heart),” “Annie Lennox-Walking On Broken Glass,”” Aerosmith-I Don't Want To Miss A Thing,” “Celine Dion-It's All Coming Back To Me Now,” “The Rembrandts-I'll Be There For You,” “Shania Twain-You're Still The One,” “Belinda Carlisle-Live Your Life Be Free,” “Shania Twain-From This Moment On,” “Jimmy Cliff-I Can See Clearly Now,” “Faith Hill-This Kiss,” “Britney Spears-Sometimes,” “Celine Dion-My Heart Will Go On,” “Michael Bolton-How Am I Supposed To Live Without You,” “Shania Twain-That Don't Impress Me Much,” “Rod Stewart-Have I Told You Lately,” “Savage Garden-I Knew I Loved You,” “Backstreet Boys-I Want It That Way,” “Shania Twain-Man! I Feel Like A Woman,” “Barbra Streisand & Celine Dion-Tell Him,” “Marc Anthony-I Need To Know,” “Leann Rimes-How Do I Live,” “Lonestar-Amazed”
Went to a Michael Bolton concert, and it was really powerful the way he did “When a Man Loves a Woman There” (they turned out all the lights, and all of a sudden this song starts, and a lot of people in the audience started screaming).
The song didn’t make muy list, but the moment I saw “Losing My Religion,” I was reminded of a former friend (who often talked about the song making no sense, but he was always talking about it). This same person would also sometimes make up his own lyrics and, when questioned, say, “That’s what they’re saying.” (It was painfully obvious they weren’t, as he’d be singing with the song—one example that springs to mind is the song with the line “I come from the Land Down Under” that he made into “I come from Orlando”)
Note on “I Knew I Loved You:” Although it made it on the list, there was a while in which it looked like it was forever crossed off (without going into specifics, let’s just say it involved a boy).
It’s weird, but I like more eighties songs than nineties—and I wasn’t even that oold in the eighties. One would think the nineties would be my generation. Instead, while I like some nineties’ music, I prefer eighties, some sixties and seventies, and then 2000s.
