I've read Ulysses and Catch-22 without any issues but my great unfinished book is "Bonfire of the Vanities". Four times I've picked it up and four times I've abandoned it at about the same place. It's not that I don't like it, it's just that it doesn't seem to tempt me to keep going with it.

Mine is "At Swim,Two Boys" by Jamie O'Neill, I am hoping that one day I will have absolutely nothing left to read and might get through it. I never seem to get into it. Anyone feel it might be worthwhile? Incidentally why is this thread here and not in Books? Just asking....
edited to say how thoroughly I agree with Sue and Flops. The Da Vinci Code is to me the most boring, predictable rot I ever read. I did finish it, solved the codes in half a page and have now completely forgotten what it was about.Oh dear me!

Why is it here and not in books? It veered off topic a few pages back, but in a perfectly logical progression from the starting point.

Snowman, don't bother with "Bonfire". Nothing wrong with it, perfectly adequate book, but not worth the trouble if you're not enjoying it.

The only Danielle Steele I've read was BUTTERFLY, which she wrote under another name that escapes me at the moment. That was years and years ago and I enjoyed it at the time. I was quite young then, however, and had not been over-exposed to the rape-and-revenge cliche. I sincerely doubt I'd have any interest in a book like it now.

Other than that, I really can't offer an opinion on Steele.
