This year's FT-PL comp will be the 10th edition of this head-to-head tipping comp. For those of us who are unfamiliar with this comp, it's a round-robin league system where everybody plays everybody else twice (aka home and away) .. everyone picks the 10 weekly games played in the FA Premier League. It's a head-to-head contest where the winner receives 3 pts and it's one point each for a draw .. aka if you pick 8/10 and your opponent picks 6/10, you win and collect the 3 pts. Whoever has the most pts at the end of the season is the winner! This year's comp runs for 9 months from Saturday 18th August 2012 and ends on Sunday 19th May 2013. As was the case last year, we tip 34 of the 38 FAPL rounds played (there are 18 runners) .. we omit the weekend with the FA Cup quarter-finals, plus the 3 rounds that straddle New Year's Eve. The field is limited to a maximum of 18 runners and, unlike other comps in here, where you may simply post your picks in the first tipping thread *or* sign-in, you must sign in here to enter this comp, so that the weekly head-to-head fixtures can be put together. If less than 18 sign-up, that's the field. If more than 18 apply, preference will be given to the tipsters who sign-in first *and* have previously played in a season-long FT tipping comp. If we still have more than 18 we use the following exclusion system: [ A ] the 15 tipsters who finished #1 to #15 in last year's comp. [ B ] players who've participated in an entire season long tipping comp (except class R). [ R ] the 3 tipsters #15 to #18 in last year's comp (aka de facto promotion & relegation). [ Y ] anyone who has participated in two or more FT tipping comps. [ Z ] everybody else including first-timers. To allow time for the weekly schedule of who's-playing-who to be, firstly, put together and, secondly, posted in the tipping threads, the deadline for signing-up is midnight FT time on Tuesday 31st July .. there's a grace period of 2 or 3 hours, but please don't push your luck past that. Putting the weekly round-robin schedule does take time. Please note that, as there are no byes in this head-to-head comp, we must have an even number of contestants. If we have less than 18 players sign-up and it's an odd number, sign-up will be left open and the next person to sign-in is it, that's the field. If no one signs-in after 3 days (by midnight FT time Friday 3rd August) the sequence A to Z will will be used to exclude one player! The defending titleholder is illiniman14, who wore down LeoDaVinci to take the lead in Round 23 .. and then proceeded to run-away with it over the last 11 rounds and win by 8 pts (almost 3 wins) from srini701. some examples of how the sequence will work:
(a) if 6, 9 and 14 all sign-in there's room for one more in B and that's the field of 18 runners (all A+B)
(b) if none of those three sign-in there's room for 4 more in B-R-Y-Z (in that order)
(c) wwe84 needs max of three acceptances across A+B to stay-in
(d) if only two sign-in across A+B (and no more in R) this will allow a Y or Z player to participate
