Last week there was no change in the first four spots; it's the same story this week. Dizart scored yet another weekly win to make it three over the last 4 weeks. He extends his lead out front to 13 pts, which is greater than one week's perfect pick! He has the best countback figures by a mile.

Last week his margin back to 3rd place was 16½ pts .. it's now a whopping 19 pts. So much for this being a marathon over 46 rounds .. it's become a sprint, and no-one has enough oxygen in their tank to keep up with the cracking pace out front!

ren33 & N-Bomb were the other weekly winners .. ren33 climbs up into7th place, a new high for the season; and for N-Bomb it was his 2nd weekly win for the season (his first was way back in week 5).

We still have two split rounds running in the background and two players are still looking for their first weekly win .. wwe84 and paper_aero.

This round was scheduled for the same weekend as the 4th Round of the FA Cup. As there 9 FLC teams who'd progressed out of the 3rd Round, just 5 of the 12 scheduled games were played on Sat 26th Jan; and three were played mid-week. The remaining four were played over the following month.

There was no change in the first four spots; ditto the last four spots (which is what happened last week and the week before that).

N-Bomb scores back-to-back weekly wins and flies up the table from 12th to 5th .. two weeks ago he was 14 pts off the podium. This week it's 8 pts. He also earnt himself an honourable mention in the FLC Record Book with his first-ever haul of four bonus picks; ditto ozzz2002; he also had four bonus picks, but he's been there before -- it's the 5th time he's bagged four bonus picks!

FussBudget earnt himself an entry in the FunTrivia Hall of Fame.
He collected this week's wooden spoon with 0/12.

This round's winner was the tail-ender, wwe84, which leaves paper_aero as the lone ranger, looking for his first weekly win.

2nd, 3rd and 4th collected a wooden spoon each, which means they fall further behind the leader, again. This has become a one-man show. Dizart has streteched his lead out front to a humungous 14½ pts after 34 of 46 rounds, aka as we're at the ¾ mark in this marathon.

Once again N-Bomb moves up the table. Three weeks ago he was 14 pts off the podium. This week it's 5½ pts.

The mid-week round caught four players unawares; they receive the default score. No change in the first four spots or the last four spots; all the movement was mid-table amongst the other 12 rungs of the ladder - all of this round's winners and wooden spoons are in there (except for one spoon).

Weekly wins and wooden spoons for the season have now been equalised at 67 apiece. All of us have one of each in our satchel except for paper_aero, who's still the lone ranger looking for his first weekly win.

The first four and the last four are unchanged for the 5th straight week. Dizart has been leader for the last 28 weeks and, with just 9 rounds left and lead of 9½ pts, he can start sipping champagne with the two Scotsmen, Sir Alex (manager of Manch Utd) and Malky Mackay (manager of Cardiff City).

Six weeks ago N-Bomb was 14 points off the podium back in 12th place. Five weeks ago he climbed into 4th place and was 8 pts off the podium .. five weeks later he's still 4th but is now a mere 1½ pts off the podium.

From the day the FLC comp started back in 2006 (this year's comp is the 7th edition) there have been 17 instances where a tipster has scored 5 (twice) or 4 bonus picks (15 times). Five of those 15 belong to ozzz2002. This week he scores another 4 bonus picks; that's numero six!

ozzz2002 has now scored 38 bonus picks for the season vs. six of us are still in single digits .. paper_aero is still the lone ranger, the only runner without a weekly win.

The first four and the last four are unchanged for the 6th straight week, except for one slot .. ozz2002 moved up a spot with a weekly win. PaulE is the other weekly winner; and he's now just 3 pts off a silver medal!

Dizart has been leader for the last 29 weeks and, with just 8 rounds left, has extended his lead to 11½ pts. However, the lead is actually more than that as he has the best countback figures by a country mile. The fat lady is warming up to start singing .. he won't lose it from here!

N-Bomb failed to lodge any picks, which slows down his surge to a podium finish .. seven weeks ago he was 14 points off the podium back in 12th place. Six weeks ago he climbed into 4th place and was 8 pts off the podium .. and last week he was a mere 1½ pts off the podium. This week he's still 4th but is now 5 points off the podium.

ozzz2002 scored yet another 3 bonus picks and now has 41 for the season ... five of us are still in single digits! Next best is dg_dave with 38 bonus picks .. and both of them have more wooden spoons than anyone else with 8 spoons apiece (next is wwe84 with six spoons).

paper_aero is still the lone ranger, the only runner without a weekly win.

The first four are unchanged for the 7th straight week, but we now have one more runner .. N-Bomb is joined by FussBudget in equal 4th place.

Dizart stretches his run out front to 30 consecutive weeks and, with another 7 rounds remaining, he has the opportunity to end up with 37 straight. If he succeeds (he will) it will be the second-longest streak in any FT comp. The all-time record is 39 weeks as leader, set by Copago some 11 years ago in the FAPL comp of 2001-02.

We now have two players in the 40s with bonus picks .. dg_dave scored yet another 2 bonus picks and now has 40 for the season, two less than ozzz2002, who collected this week's wooden spoon (vs. he was a winner last week). On the other hand, last week's wooden spooner, KrivoyRog, is this week's winner.

paper_aero is still looking for his first weekly win .. his streak is now 39 weeks. As his last weekly win was in the last round of last year's comp, he needs another 21 weeks to equal the all-time FLC record of 60 straight win-less weeks (this record belongs to PaulE).

KrivoyRog scores his second weekly win in three weeks and climbs up into 4th place, a new high for the season. Back in wk 8 he was equal last in 19th place, 17 pts off the podium. PaulE and gtho4 have once again swapped places 2nd & 3rd spots. While they've been paying musical chairs they've forgotten to look in the rear-vision mirror .. BxBarracuda and illiniman14 are this round's weekly winners with picks of 7/12 .. that's number seven for the season for both of them. Only one person has more weekly wins, with eight of them, and that's our leader Dizart.

Dizart's been bopping along out front and, after 33 weeks, he's free to chnage gears ... out of top into overdrive and then turn on the cruise control. With just three rounds left and a margin of 12 pts it's all over (and has been for ages). He's home and hosed!

PaulE and gtho4 swap 2nd and 3rd spots for the fourth straight week. KrivoyRog and N-Bomb in 4th and 5th have slipped back a bit. KrivoyRog picked 3/12, just one more than the spoon score collected by FussBudget .. and N-Bomb failed to lodge picks.

At the rear of the field we now have a dead-heat for last. Either szabs or wwe84, or both, will collect the big one at the end of the season .. same one from another angle!

We're all done, the marathon is over. Dizart won the gold medal by a comfortable 16½ points .. and that's with one wooden spoon back in week 9 when he picked 0/12! PaulE collects silver and gtho4 picks up bronze on a countback from paper-aero (+2 vs. -1).

Dizart was leader for 36 consecutive weeks, a streak which has been exceeded just once over the 13 yrs we've been running these comps here at FT. The all-time record is 39 weeks straight set by Copago in the FAPL comp in the 2001-02 season.

The last week of the season saw KrivoyRog score a weekly win with picks of 7/12 .. last week he collected a wooden spoon with 0/12! He finished the season ranked #4 for weekly wins, #4 for wooden spoons, and #4 for bonus picks! You work that one out .. ozzz202, dg-dave and wwe84 were ranked #1, #2 and #3 for wooden spoons collected during the season. They were also ranked #1, #2 and #3 for bonus picks!

paper_aero scored the same number of pts in weeks 1 to 23 as he did for the 2nd half of the season for weeks 24 to 46. The rest of us were better/worse in the second half (see table at right).

This season was the 7th edition of the FLC comp. Last year, after five different winners, Sypher became the first player to win this twice (he won the 3rd comp back in 2008-09). Dizart is the 6th different winner.

Congratulations to the three medallists, and commiserations to the rest of us; there's always next year. We start another 46 laps in early August.

Cardiff City return to the top tier of English football after an absence of 51 years, when they spent two seasons in the old Division One (now the FA Premier League), in 1960-61 and 1961-62. The club's glory days were back in the 1920s, when they finished equal first in Division One (they lost the title on a countback to Huddersfield Town). They won the FA Cup in 1927 when they beat Arsenal 1-0; which was the first and only time the FA Cup was won by a team outside England.

Hull City return to the FA Premier League after an absence of three years, when they spent two seasons in the FAPL (which was their debut appearance in the top tier). The teams which finished 3rd to 6th will play-off for the 3rd promotion spot.

At the other end, Wolverhampton Wanderers were relegated to League One, which makes it to back-to-back relegations (they were relegated from the FAPL last year). Wolves now hold the unwanted distinction of being the first club relegated from the top tier to the third tier twice .. their first was in 1985 and 1986, when they finished last in Division One and then last in Division Two.
