Glad you're on the ball, Ren! Here is a shot across the crops - I loved the clouds. Here is a bit of self indulgence .. last week we had aerial photos taken by a professional photographer called Peter Bellingham and here is a link to one of them. We have only seen the shots on the web so far and can't picked up the framed ones til we go to town next. They're sitting at a relatives who keeps telling me how great they are This photo we had the lake cropped from the top of the photo (as it's not on our property but it's oh so close) and had it blown up to 1.1m x 56cm. Can't wait to get it. aerial shot

Loved both the photos, Copagao. Waiting to see more. We were driving through some lonely country roads when we had to stop for this train.

Great shots, Copago! Nice flowers as well, Chavs and Howie. Taking a small break from my Bali photos, here is one I took on my walk by the river today. Literally got with in an arm's length of this large and quite handsome fellow, he didn't seem to mind at all. He didn't want to pose for a photo, though. Photo taken on my iPod.

I see we are going to start September with great photos. Just like every other month. This dude overlooks the city of Rapid City, South Dakota. He resides on top of a big hill in a city park called Dinosaur Park. The dinosaurs were constructed by the Works Progress Administration in 1936. In addition to this guy, they also have a triceratops, stegosaurus, tyrannosaurus and three other dinosaurs for kids to play on and people to take pictures of. The apatosaurus in the picture is 80 feet long.

September is off to a great start! Beautiful flowers and I really like the pelican shot. Amazing how close you can get to them. I have a few closeup shots of a few. Jill, when you get more of the aerial shots, I'd love to see them. Your life and property seems so thrilling to me. I am not a city girl and have lived out in the sticks or near it most of my life so your station would seem like a dream come true to me. Yesterday I posted a photo of the tortoise that showed up on my patio. After an hour or so nap, he took off back across the desert. I've never seen a tortoise move so fast...he was practically running (as fast as a tortoise can run, that is ) I guess his nap gave him a fresh start to wherever he was heading. Here he (or she) stopped before crossing our road to pose prettily.

Christinap, Arizona does have native tortoises. The one that took refuge on my patio is, as near as I can tell, the Sonoran Desert Tortoise.

That IS a big watermelon. Here is the open cut gold mine in the Black Hills. It is 1/2 mile across and 1200 feet deep. Homestake Mining began operations during the Black Hills gold rush in the late 1870s. It continued to operate until 2002 when it just became too uneconomical to continue. To me, it is very sad to look at these great big holes in the ground amongst all the beauty of the Black Hills.

Some wonderful photos here! It might not be 'the old gum tree', but this kookaburra was quite content sitting on this sign at Silvan Reservoir (near Melbourne) yesterday....
