A Scotsman and his wife walked past a swanky new restaurant last night...

"Did you smell that food?" she asked... "Incredible!"

Being the 'Kind Hearted Scotsman', he thought,

"What the heck, I'll treat her!"



..... So they walked past it again...

The reputation for Scotsmen being miserly also gave rise to one of our most renowned brand names. Over at Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing in 1925 Richard Drew created masking tape to help car painters do neat painting jobs. Trouble was, they put the adhesive on the edges of the tape to make it easier to remove...in fact, it kept falling off! Legend has it that one enraged painter returned his tape, yelling, (wait for it) "Take this tape back to your Scotch bosses and tell them to put more adhesive on it!"

Yep, that's how we got Scotch tape!
