The Melbourne Cup is one of the premier horse races in the world and will be contested on November 6th, at 3pm Melbourne time.

There are still 161 horses in contention, so it is probably better to wait for a while before entering your tip. There will be several ballots before the final field of 24 is announced on the Saturday prior to the race.

The rules and conditions are the same as usual, viz,

RULES


Pick ten horses in the order of finishing.

Points will be allocated for the first five horses on a 10-6-3-2-1 basis.

Tiebreaker will be the order of the picks, ie, if you have the winner as yout third pick, you will beat anyone that has that horse or fourth (or higher).

Entries close just before the race, at 2.59pm Melbourne time.

2012 Melbourne Cup Field

The 2012 Melbourne Cup field will be announced on Saturday November 3rd, 2012. Melbourne Cup final acceptances are to be revealed live from Flemington Racecourse directly after the action of Victoria Derby Day which is the first of four meetings making up the 2012 Melbourne Cup Carnival. A capacity 24 starters are set to make up the Melbourne Cup 2012 field with no emergencies allowed in the world’s richest handicap.
