What exactly happens to Question Quest questions?

What exactly happens to the questions submitted to Question Quest after they are no longer part of the New Question Game?
The Question Quest instructions imply that the single questions are used in a variety of games, but frankly the only place I have seen Question Quest questions used is the Mixed Game (Something for Everyone). In all the other games, including the Global Challenge, the questions seem to be derived from quizzes.
When I write new questions, and I read the questions that the system gives me to make sure that there are no duplicates, I often think to myself, "Wow. That's a great question. I have never seen it on FT. When do I get to answer it?"
Do they ever end up in the Monster Quiz? Do they just end up in a "pile" somewhere on a hard drive, neglected?

I was told by one of my friends that a single question of mine showed up in one of the Gold Member games...

I've seen a few of mine in mixed as well. I can't remember seeing any anywhere else but that could be due to the difficulty - I do try to write ones that are too easy to go in Obscurity and ones too hard for Piece of Cake.

They come up in Knockout, in the Who's the Smartest mixed hour, I think in the Average Game as well... and at least a couple other daily/hourly games but I'm not positive which ones. I've seen them recently though while I've been exploring games I haven't played in a very long time (thanks to the Daily Challenges!)

Monster Quiz uses a cached data set, which Terry refreshed fairly recently. It may now include some QQ quesitons, or it may still be based on the quizzes.
In a number of the games, the questions seem to have come from a quiz, but if you see an error and click on the Play this quiz link to play it and see whether the opriginal quiz has already been fixed before sending a correction note, you will be told that the question comes from QQ. I am pretty sure I have seen questions in Who's the Smartest, selected from those that prove to be harder than average when played in the New Question Game.
If they are not all currently in regular use, they certainly will be.

TvT, I think agony. Since Heroes is based on specific topics, the questions from quizzes in those subcategories.

I think many have shown up in the "Quick Quiz". In fact I think most of the "Quick Quiz" Qs are single questions.

So, I guess what happens to the quesiton depends on the rating (good, average, poor) and the percentage who guess correctly.
What is the algorithm for this? What is the cutoff for being in Obscurity or the Mixed Hourly or the Harder Hourly? If rated average or poor, is the question discarded? Does anyone know this information?

Terry knows. The rest of us (aside from administrators who may also know) don't really need to know. Poor ratings (less than 0) probably send the question to the scrapheap. There would obviously be a numerical cutoff to allow automatic sorting of questions. As far as difficulty goes, there is an algorithm in place for selecting questions from quizzes that would select questions in a certain % correct range for each game, and the same range is probably used for single questions.

Does anyone know this information? My question that got sent to Obscurity had the following stats: Difficulty: 29% got it correct. User rating (0.2919): good I would expect that any questions that fall into the desire range for the badge would not be sent to this game...

http://www.funtrivia.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/476310/Terry#Post476310<< And the ones with good ratings but lower % corrects? Will they go to the oscure/impossible/ GM madness? >>
Yes. All questions rated at least 0 go into the general pool, and appear based on their difficulty:
Roughly:
Easy Game: 85% - 99% Smartest: 70% - 95% Daily / Team / KO / Mixed Hourly: 75% - 95% Obscurity: 20% - 60% Impossible: 0% - 60%
etc...

TimBentley, thanks for posting that, and for giving the link.
I read through the posts in that thread, and it was very enlightening.
It looks like the New Question Game used to run multiple times a day? Was it four times a day like Gold Madness? When did it change?

I just had 3 Single Questions in my Daily Game set today. You still play the Daily Game? I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple that appeared in the NQG appear in Mixed Game.

I don't normally play it actually, but it was required today for my Medium Challenge...so, yeah.

That explains something that's been puzzling me (sort of). If you don't activate pull-down menus, and you click on "Quizzes" at the top of the home page, you are taken to a page called "FunTrivia.com Multi-Player Games". http://www.funtrivia.com/games.cfmListed among the HOURLY games is... "New Question Game : Play questions appearing for the first time." Of course, HOURLY wasn't quite right if ran every 6 hours Anyway, it looks like it needs to be moved to the DAILY section.

When the New Question Game first started though, wasn't it kind of an "ad-hoc" game? It wasn't every 6 hours right away, I think. Didn't a new one start whenever there were enough questions to call for it?

I recall that the game did refresh several times during the day when it first started. Then came that spring of '09 when the quizbots went on strike and there were no games for a while. Relief wasn't forthcoming until many players, in the throes of withdrawal, petitioned Terry to concede to the quizbot demands. In exchange they agreed to work the new Mind Melt Game and to self-deport non-English speaking versions of themselves.
