According to this article, law enforcement authorities have discovered upwards of 80 bodies, some more than three years old, just dumped in the woods and in sheds outside a Georgia crematorium. These bodies were supposed to have been cremated but clearly never were; the owner of the crematorium has been arrested. It's thought that he might have substituted ashes from wood chips for the ashes of his customers' loved ones.

This is easily the most disgusting thing I've heard in a long time.

I heard on the news this morning that there could be up to 300 bodies there ... the reason given, that the crematorium fell behind on work load.

I feel sorry for anyone who is even thinking that one of their relatives may be one of the ones that were not cremated.

This is one of the sickest things I've ever heard about! What on Earth would possess someone to do something so atrocious?

I am truly appalled. Whenever I think I've seen the lowest of the low...some scum like this comes along. Even if I grant that this person was one SICK individual...Was there no one else around? I can understand that the loved ones wouldn't pick up on this....you just think the right thing has been done! But it's hard for me to fathom how such a sizeable atrocity could happen over such a long period of time! I do have to get more facts, but, on the face of it, appalled is the right word.

This truly is a disgusting story.

The owners of the crematory claim that the bodies had not been cremated because their incinerator wasn't working. But that incinerator must have been on the fritz for quite some time--some of the bodies they found were mummified.

My mom read that it has been going on for more than twenty years. I am so horrified I can't even imagine how family members feel.

I am appalled, cremation is very popular in Britain, more so than in America I understand. To the best of my knowledge such facilities tend to belong to the local councils in Britian, therefore are not normally in private ownership so such an appalling situation couldn't occur here.

Presumably it started with a few when the equipment failed then seemed like an easy way of making money.

When you say your final farewells to loved ones you expect that to be the end of it, grieving can take its natural course, you really don't expect to have to start the whole process over again.

Apparently what appalls me also fascinates me, to be honest, because I went to the CNN page and read more details. I shall not repeat them, but if you don't have a strong stomach...don't look. Interesting facts, though.
