I wasn't sure wether to place this in the sports stadium or here, so i'll leave it to the mods to decide if it needs moving.

Today 15th April, 13 years ago, saw the tragic events unfold at the Hillsborough stadium, where 96 Liverpool fans lost their lives when they should have been enjoying a game of football.

Although I am a Manchester United fan and hate Liverpool with a passion when we play them, I can feel nothing but the deepest sadness at what took place on my tv screen those 13 years ago.

This post is just to let the people of Liverpool know, especially the families directly involved, that, even though we are rivals on the pitch, we are united in your grief.

To the 96 that perished YNWA

Touching sentiments Sparky, I think you speak for many football fans the world over.

I too watched in horror as those dreadful scenes unfurled in front of me.

My thoughts also go to those who lost loved ones on that awful day.

Seconded...........

Like you Sparks, I'm a ManU. fan (have I mentioned that before? [Big Grin] ) but I echo your sentiments completely.

I was up at Oakwell on Saturday and some of the Barnsley fans came onto the pitch after the match. I could understand thier frustration as Norwich had just sent them down to the second division, but I immediately thought of the events at Hillsborough.

Still sends a shiver down my spine.

I can remember exactly where I was when this happened.

I was painting the side of my Mum and Dad's house when Mum called me in to watch the live pictures on Grandstand. Of course, at the time, everyone thought it was just another case of mindless crowd violence. Little were we to know.

That truely was an horrific event and there is one picture that will always stand out in my mind and I shudder every time I think of it.

Anyone ever read "Fever Pitch"? (only the book, movie was crap)The bit in there where he talks about it is humbling, too.
